This manga has its appeal; it draws the reader in; art is good; plot is good etc. I do like this manga. HOWEVER this manga is of the minority of mangas out there that make me absolutely DEPRESSED (another being 'parfait tic'. The characters were great, I can't argue, but I thought of Takeru as a self-righteous bastard, although his ability to be 'wise beyond his years' appealed to me. Bah! This is the worst criticism I've given to a manga, I would never choose to re-read this manga. I didn't feel the love for Kayano in Takeru, but Kayano seemed head over heels for him, which really pissed me off (which is why I like Kaichou wa maid-sama). This manga made me convinced that I never wanted to fall in love with anyone.
Slightly more mature version of Marmalade Boy

Beautiful artwork. However I swear, Takeru must spend more time than most women spend to get ready in the morning. I like how much more depth of characterization there was than Marmalade Boy. The characters are more complex and less silly. I love the ending. The story ending from the perspective of another character was very cute. The last picture made me smile.
too long

I really liked this story quite a bit. However, eventually Kayano got on my nerves for crying over every single little thing.
The art is more than wonderful

I have to say that the initial idea for Akuma de Sorou is great but it is not sustained throughout the series. I had a bad impression of the overall plot and ending from the TW drama SO...
the main reason why I read this manga was for the art.
Takanashi Mitsuba does not do cutesy-cutesy big eyed shoujo style art, thus a large number of shoujo manga readers are unable to appreciate her drawings. Her art is more sophisticated. It is geared towards a more realistic style, her proportions are more accurate and her eye for detail is most evident throughout the series.
The overall image for Takeru is based on a real life person (hide) and I was able to recognise this almost instantly...so just for that, I give Takanashi's art skills extra credit. (:

At first, it wasn't all that interesting and I really didn't like Takeru all that much. After a couple chapters, Takeru started to look better and he was more appealing. Kayano has quite an annoying personality though,
Overrated.

At first, the story looked really promising and exciting. Then it gradually started getting more and more... boring. The main character became really annoying too - I hated how she kept crying all the time.
And the art is not my cup of tea either. I tried to get used to it, thinking that the story would make up for it. That however obviously didn't happen. The art only gets a bit better towards the end. And speaking of the end, it felt really rushed and even though it was a happy end it was unsatisfying for me. It felt like the mangaka was in a depression and decided to take it out on the characters. But one day she woke up in an unexpectedly good mood and decided that they should just end up together no matter what.
All in all, this really turned out disappointing for me.

I'm still at around volume 7 of the whole manga and what's really bugging me is that 80% of the time Kayano just keeps crying. Irritating at times but I do love their "moments". Hope it gets better..
Very good.

This series had a slow, ugly start- a bit like an ugly duckling. The art really looked weird in the first few chapters, but it got better- WAY better. The storyline was simple, effective and heartwarming. One of the best shojou mangas, this is definitely recommended.

A beautiful, sortive indie tale.
The modern uptake, and the general image were enjoyable.
I loves Haru and Kayano's relationship. So kawaii!
Only Takanashi-sama could make a story fit with it's words so well.
