Surprisingly good

I actually wasn't the least bit interested in this when it first started coming out. The main character sounded and looked really annoying and the story seemed to lovey dovey for me... but after probably about two or three years I read a little bit of it at the library to see what all the fuss was about, and i did (sadly) fall in love with it. The art was a little annoying at the beginning, but got better as the series progressed. This is not my favorite, but it is up there. I still don't think its as good as everyone says, but it was definitely worth reading! And a HUGE plus is that the ending was good! It always feels like no one ever knows how to end a story very well, so i was really impressed with that!

The Best Shoujo Manga Ever!!!!!!!!!

This manga is most likely my most favorite shoujo of all time. I first started this series buy just unsincerely buying the first volume. The book store had a buy 2 get 1 free sale and I had to choose a free book, I hadn't read manga before, since the manga I was buying that day was my first manga ever. So I just picked up the manga I saw my friend reading at school. I really didn't think I was going to like it. But I soon became obsessed with it. I immediately went back to the store and bought all the volumes they had availiable, which at the time was up to vol. 5 or so. Ever since then I bought the next volume whenever it came out. Sadly after reaching vol. 15 of my collection, I sold it, all 15 vol., which I regret to this day. It was only 5 days ago that I went on a mad search to find the cheapest place to buy the whole series back. two days ago I purchased vol. 1-18 and am anxiously awaiting their arrival. Just goes to show you how obsessed with it I am again. I still need to get vol. 19-23

In short, Furuba was the second manga I've ever read, my first being "Crescent Moon". I love this manga and you should too. The length of the manga makes it even better. And I like how it has a lot of side character stories and couples. It just makes me love it even more. Right now I'm currently interested in Mine's and Ayame's relationship, I only wish that the author wrote more about them.

was drawn to this by the anime

i first watched the anime a couple years ago and then got interested in continuing the story in the manga. i never got the chance to finish it until now. it was better than i thought it'd be. the art at the beginning doesn't look that appealing, but later on, it improves significantly. it changes so much that the characters look totally different than before. a lot of scenes are heart-warming and tear-jerkers. i agree that the manga is so much better than the anime (didn't like the filler). i loved all the characters, even tohru. i really liked the comedy as well. even though it's long, i totally recommend it. i've read a lot of shoujo manga, but this is one of my top faves.

Well i've read this manga at least three times. First time was boring and I never got it, but after i watched the anime again and reread the manga, it was a really good manga. I cried in alot of the scenes. LOL a little bit crazy, yes, but they were very touching scenes and really sad.
I really like the art but at the beginning it was pretty rough and slightly ugly. bigrazz Characters were all sooo adorrabblle >.< except for the main character, tohru was just too nice. Storyline.. hm.. a bit skippy but its all good.

I just loved it. : 3.

art is terrible

the story has a good premise but tohru just annoyed the hell out of me. how can anyone really be that happy and smiley all the time? i only read it because of rin and hatsuharu, she really did a lot of characterization with them. tohru doesnt really grow up or change throughout the series, and the art is mediocre at best.i hate how their eyes look like rectangles. i give it a 4 for the plot, which made me laugh sometimes.

they used that little blonde boy for emotional effect one too many times and i grew sick of it. the story was so good otherwise (though i don't usually like the empty-headed types who's redeeming quality is her deep understanding of emotion) so i'm gearing up to read the manga. which is generally always better than the anime.

here's hoping.

it was <3 at first sight!!! furuba was a lot of firsts for me: first time obsessing over a fictional character, first manga I love, first anime I hated (I think the anime sucked. alot.), first long ongoing series I completed, first complete manga collection...etc! Sigh, it was good...

i loved it in the beginning, but around vol 13 i began to lose intrest fast especially when it became obvious who Tohru was leaning towards....sigh....the darker edge towards the end was a little too angsty for me, overall a nice read...i wanted to really know more about Tohru's friends in the end...or even Yuki, ahh well...can't always get what you want....

oh men..
seriously i dont know how to comment on this manga...
i was kindda relieved that after months i finally finished it!! i was reading tons of oneshots in between...because actually there are momements that i got bored because somehow the drama is kindda repetitive...somehow the drama of the juunishi is repetitive...there are some who have "nicer" problems than others...because some of their problems are more psychological so i bet that it was really hard to mend..but it all worked out in the end!! thats shoujo for you! anyways i really have to comment on the characters!!! man i wont be able to sleep tonight if i dont do!!!

*Tohru- i think that no person in the world would be able to as kind and golden hearted as her...i mean...the girl can be a saint!! well she is kindda dumb and clumsy but that made her kindda cute...i think...well im annoyed by her but shes not one of my favorites...
*Kyou- i like him!! i guess i have a soft spot for sad bishies who are somehow has a bad boy aura...i think that he really is sweet!~ hmmm...i cant think of anything more to describe him..
*Yuki- yeah...he was kindda boring for me...so sorry yuki- lovers!!
*Shigure- this man is full of comic relief but the guy has his own drama!! and i think i dont know what to feel about his mature side...
*Haru and Rin- i just have to count them as one...every time i see them together their style reminds me of rock and roll... i mean these people got style!! their love story is kindda emo-ish and painful but still it wonderful...and not to mention i like haru!!!
*Kisa and Hiro- i also like this couple!! pure innocence...i want to hug Hiro!!! hes really cute when hes trying to act all grown up!!
*Momiji- man...i love him...especially in the later parts...i think that makes him my favorite character because he was kindda like me...even though he acts all childish and such he really is mature on the inside and i think i want to see him get together with Tohru...i think that the MomijixTohruxKyou love triangle is better that the one with Yuki in it...
*Hatori- i also love him...especially his story...i watched it in the anime...and everytime i see it i always cry without fail...i didnt read the start of the manga but read it where tha anime left it so i didnt read the manga version of his story...but still he also ha his happy ending..
*Ayame and Mine- i love this couple full of comic relief but like shigure they have their own issues but i guess its all good because of Mines attitude...
*Akito- at first at hate this person...im always WTF?? every time he appears...and i was always pissed when he does unreasonable things...but and there where things that are really interesting about him that was shown in the end so basically i dont hate him anymore...
*Kureno- i like him because of his story but he was also kindda annoying i was like: why dont you just leave her dude?!! have a backbone!!! on his face all the time...but its all good...

ooohhh...who else...
*Kagura- was ok...she was kindda annoying...i hate the clingy types..
*Kimi- Kagura and Kimi are kindda alike for me in some way...i also hate the overconfident sassy types...she also always always ruins the moment..
Kakeru and Machi- actually i dont have much to comment on them...they played an important part on Yuki's life but basically since i was bored by Yuki im pretty bored at these people too...especially at Machi..i dont get it that most of the people's favorite character is her...i maen is it because shes always in denial?? ohhh...Kakeru's cool because of hilarious pervertedness..
*Hana and Uo- i like them...their help...i also like their character and their very unique personalities...as also the things that they do...i cant comment anymore on them because doing that will only give away spoilers
*Shisou- i dont have much to say about this man..but hes kind...

who else...
*Nao- yeah nothing much was said about him but he likes that girl<forgot the name>...i gues thats a spoiler...
*<forgotten girl>- i like her determination...btw when i first caught a glimpse of fruits basket she was the first person that i saw...actually she was the who made me interested in the series...actually she is the perfect example of unrequited love and letting go...she tells some peoples story...
*Yuuko and Katsuya- Tohru's parents...i love them...they remind of my parents...their love story actually made me cry!!

ohhh...who else...
*Ritsu- ohhh...i kindda like him and i really think that hes cute in a sorta annoying way...
*Mayu- i like her...i just do...very understanding...

ohhh...also the art...it can be very pretty at times but...the bishies sometimes look really the same that it becomes really tiring...

yeah it was a fun read...but i kindda got boring at times but i still enjoyed and actually managed to get some life lesson...but i still hoped that it was shorter...
