Easy to follow story and action scenes, idiotic unrealistic shounen leader that in a post-apocalyptic world think he can survive without killing, random chars you don't care about, plot holes, whatever, this is not a smart manga though it has its small moments.

The main characters don't seem to have any qualities but luck. In real life they would have all died by chapter 2. Author tries to give them background, like 2-3 pages with condensed text, which is obviously not enough to make us care.

Should you read it? I guess some people will find value in it since it's easy and fast to read.

well...i dont think the plot or the character development is any good at all. they are too shounen, even with all the gore because everything just fall into place thus they wont need to taint thier hand at all. and the ending is absolutely too perfect. however, i do enjoy this manga because it can give out good, intense excitement, which is all one require from such manga. read if you want some violence and excitement, just leave your brain out.

But with none of the imagery or seriousness. The whole story can be boiled down into: a group of kids survive an endless gorefest despite constant attacks and a total unwillingness to fight back.

And there is a LOT of gore.

Trying to defend the kids? You can count on them to die. Leaving someone to die in a burning building? Sure why not. Have a hotel full of people slaughter each other while a kid sustains himself on bugs and insects? Nothing wrong with that! Oh and because having the adults slowly turn into murderous berserkers isn't enough, theres a kid going around manipulating everyone into killing each other.

The story shouldn't be read as anything more than a gore story where the main characters remain completely and utterly innocent throughout it all.
