Volume 2 : Paradise.
Following the events narrated in the first volume, Luna and Konosuke are now living together with the old woman vampire as fellows, as lovers, in a diabolic innocence, killing for quieting their thirst for blood, joining death and love under the dream of eternal youth. Meanwhile, a young boy named Makoto is looking for his lost sister Miko, who disappeared years ago in mysterious circumstances. But what really happened to that girl who liked eating grubs and dreamed of becoming one of them? And is there really a terrible secret that someone is hiding? The paths of all the characters will dramatically collide, bringing unexpected consequences after the things are gradually revealed.
A story suspended between weirdness and decadence, showing a clear nostalgia for German cinematography and Federico Fellini, where blood is used to trace a great and only apparently amoral story. Less...

theres some pieces that might constitute horror (like bathing in baby's blood) but overall i am quite calm reading this manga. there is no suspense whatsoever. i think the art is very beautiful and great for horror manga, but the over melodramatic ways the characters act just make everything too normal. the manga also suffer from problems that plagued manga of its era = the problem of flow and pacing. the panels do not move fluidly thats why suspense and climax cannot be created.
this is not a no-read manga though, i do think the art, though quite static, is very beautiful.

I actually like it, despite the fact that quite a lot of people disagree. Not like I care, the manga has some kind of attraction that it made you read it until the end. That alone is already something to be praised.
The art is a change of pace. Mind you, that is not stunning gorgeous drawing. The author has his own unique shocking grotesque and even to the level of abominable style, which describe the world in a different view. The story is anything but boring or clichéd.
For me it is not exactly horror, or maybe I am already used to the violence, killings, the bloody and disturbing stirring scenes.
Let's just say that this manga is not for everybody. Take a look at it though.

It was really uncomfortable to read...
The order of the events didn't make sense, and the crossing from one event to the other was rough, and strange...
The story didn't make much sense either, and so has the progress...
Just seemed to me that random things kept poping out of nowhere and going nowhere...
Many scene didn't end with anything and just had no sense.
The characters had little to no personality whatsoever... It was quite annoying following their mechanical actions.
The "terrible secret" was quite terrible indeed.
You wouldn't expect it with vampires...=/
The only good point of this manga was the art.
Really good and detailed.

I'm not a lover of vampire stories (it's funny how every work of art(?) has it's own view on vampires' customs), but I'm fond of Suehiro Maruo)). So...
As expected, you get smth unexpected. Seriously, you will never guess how the story turns out and how much the author assent to show you (or it's just me?). And this comparatively big set of characters... ah! You have a lot to think about afterwards. There's a number of unsaid and unshown things.
And yeah.... Konosuke is gorgeous!

Suehiro is well-known for his quirky and unique concepts oft combining black humour, sexuality and other forms of symbolism and style of storytelling. I consider this as one of his best works because of the interesting themes, intense characterisation and plot.

I'm not going to rate this one, since I dislike the genre. Just wanted to point out that this one is not horror/hentai but guro.
That's not really something everyone can read although it is a light one. I won't read it to the end, but fans of that genre will surley enjoy this manga ;)

Well Maruo stories are always something to look forward to and it’s not because of the gore, sex and violence. His stories are definitely not just for pastime, they are way too complicated to just flip though.
I find calling his work hentai is a bit degrading, since his objective is not to arouse, but rather to show situations for what they were. The fact that he uses symbolism and metaphors should be also noted and therefore not every sex scene refers to sex itself. This is not Naruto or any other mainstream manga.

The art is really strange... The genre is horror, and a bit of hentai
I dont know, this style of manga really doesnt suit me. If I want horror, give me Highschool of the Dead anytime.
