My First Manga
This brings back memories. It's a good story for younger readers, I re-read it a while ago and I can understand why I liked it so much as a kid. Older readers probably won't like it, but it's still one of those cutesy stories that shoujo-fans should try out. It's probably just nostalgic for me because it reminds me of the times I first started reading manga. Still, sometimes I can't help but to go back and reread the series. It'll always be with me because it's such a classic.
As for the cliche remarks, I do not agree. It's terribly hard to make an entirely original manga and since this series was only 7 volumes long it was difficult to get "deep." Instead of judging based on "cliches" which is unavoidable in mangas nowadays, I grade on how the manga was executed. If it kept me entertained then that's good enough. I'm not looking for character growth and deep plots from a MAGICAL GIRL SHOUJO MANGA.
More nostalgic than good
I'm reading the new printings more for the nostaliga factor than actual liking the story. It came in the same wave of magical girl stuff that Sailor Moon kicked off in North America. It's fun, it's silly, and while I enjoy reading it... it's not very good.
I don't recommend it.
The plot was full of cliches, and not to mention the characters did not develop at all. They were flat and unrounded; the ultimate stereotypes are labelled on each character. Even if they were stereotypes, I would have liked to see them change over the course of the plot and really got to know them. Neither was fulfilled throughout the story. The art is okay, though a manga does not depend solely on visual appeal. It is a typical, boring magical girl story, so I personally don't give it a high rating.
When I was in 3rd grade, I thought this was the most awesome thing ever(It's the manga that got me into manga XD) But, I've read it again now much older and.....it's really, really stupid. It's so confusing, and after you've read it you are just like, ".....wtf did I just read?" But, I have to give it credit for getting me started on manga, so I'll give it a 2.
The anime was better!
I've watch the anime and I really liked it but this manga was a real bummer. The only reason I read it all was becouse I was hoping that it would some how get better at the end or something. The TOKYO MEW MEW à LA MODE looks a little more promising but I still have to read it. I you read tokyo mew mew but have not seen the anime I would tell you to see the anime weather you like the mange or not.
i dont really have a problem with the series. But its just a typical shoujo magical girl series that i feel has no depth to it. Very repeatative to me. The art is okay...
I can't believe this manga is getting so low ratings! I'm actually rereading it whenever I feel like it! ^_^ This manga is so sweet and innocent, and the art is really pretty too! This manga may be cliché and somewhat naive, but personally I thought it was really charming!
I don't like it because come on no character development freak the anime is somewhat better except for the whole
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Ichigo and Masaya she should have ended up with Kisshu
The only reason why I like it is because of the art and the chibis. They are very cute! The only reason why I rate this a 1 is because I really don't like the plot, very boring.
i loved it
i love this series soo much!! i usually HATE shoujo manga, but this was different! the only thing that bothered me in this was the romance of masaya and ichigo, i dont really find anything special about masaya :[ i really dont like the anime that much, i prefer the manga, better artwork!!
