Misunderstanding

[spoiler] At the first place when the manga just started to be scan I immediately liked the idea of a high school girl having problems and confidence regarding the opposite sex. So what I understood is more like she was not androphobia but more shy and immature by the thought of having young male growing up into MEN and so looking to date a girl and have the relationship really close which I do understand since I was a bit like that when I was younger, knowing that they thought a lot about sex, having desire and to hug all the time. That's one point of the story and the thing I didn't really like is how long it took for them to get really close and having more feelings showing up from Chikai side. I mean the story could have been really great as well if we could have understand more if Chikai did started to like Hanabi at the beginning already, even though he had a girlfriend? We didn't have enough explanation from Chikai to know when he started to like her, was Hanabi the cause of their breakup as well?
The other thing is the main protagonist Hanabi who doesn't have any proud and esteem by pursuing a guy who is already dated someone....I mean she love is complicated so we can't judge but she should have been straight from the beginning and asking him Is it necessary for me to continue to love you? Because he didn't really reject her, he just said like oh I have a girlfriend as you know so what will you do? when you reject someone after knowing they love you, you should say sorry but that's not gonna work. That's why I am so confused and would have like at least an explanation about that. [spoiler]

I really enjoyed about the first 40 chapters. The main heroine seemed to work through her issues and even though it was slow, the characters were developing and growing. It seemed like everything was heading in the right direction and going well Then the last 20 or 25 chapters, the heroine finally accomplishes her goals and all of a sudden she can’t deal with her feelings anymore causing all sorts of ridiculous drama. The the Mangaka keeps switch to all the uninteresting side characters. It’s like you get a page of the main couple, then it switches to 3 or 4 pages of the side characters before it returns back to the main characters and goes on right until the last page where we are left with a rushed ending. Not only that, the couples problems are never 100% resolved which leaves us with a very unsatisfying ending. I read the entire thing in one sitting and during the first half I was thinking how this was one of the better shojo comics, but those feeling were quickly destroyed by the 2nd half. The art was nice though. The Main heroine was cute. The side characters were not impressive at all and I didn’t really care a thing about them.

I enjoyed it........hey, this is a shoujo romance, and it's not just a "first love" story line, it has multiple first love story lines going on with a significant number of main and side characters. If "angst" in maybe more than average amounts is going to be a problem for anyone considering reading it........yeah, this one might not be for you. It's got quite a number of complicated characters....well, what am I saying, almost all the characters have some amount of complexity........if you're going to read it you'll just have to resolve to ride the storm waves biggrin

As I said, I enjoyed it, a good, well-told story that was consistent in content and approach from start to finish.

DENSE, ANNOYING, AND ...

THIS GIRL... I honestly read around 5 or 6 chapters and dropped it right after. This protagonist is almost the "crush" of 2 or more guys, but she has no redeeming characteristics. Seriously, she is pretty dense too... which makes situations much worse. Oh well, I guess it's not my cup of tea. And Uno Chikai plays a model for a "not too great" kind of relationship.

Sometimes Id find myself liking the main character. She is cute and determined and loves her friends but she is also stupid. And likes a jerk dude who plays with her heart and his girlfriend's just to satisfy how cool he thinks he is. I also get sick of the whole Hanabi is his dog jokes. They are very demeaning and get old fast. Of course Hanabi doesnt understand this and loves him anyway. I couldnt stomach to finish it. Read this if you dont care that its sexist, has a dislikable male lead and portrays unhealthy relationships

Stuck on chapter 11

After chapter 10, it felt like it was missing a couple of chapters.. I don't know if that's a mistake or if it was on purpose, but I didn't want to continue reading it like that. I tried to, but it bothered me too much.

Two things I did not like about the manga:

1. Their classes are like club activity classes..? I don't know how to explain, but it felt like they don't have any core classes (math, science, etc.) Like their main classes are cooking, construction, business and whatever. It felt like they're already taking college programs. And seriously..what is up with the love class? -_____-"

2. The cause/reason for her phobia is pretty weak. I can understand why she hates it, but to react so extremely towards their voice, hair, and other things is a bit too much.

It felt so unrealistic. I also don't like how the mangaka developed the relationship between Hanabi and Chikai. Story is alright from what I read so far.

Lack of sensible/likable characters

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
This whole manga..honestly is just a bunch of nonsense.
First of all. She OBVIOUSLY doesn't have a guy phobia if she keeps blushing every time she's around Chikai. Then, she get's rid of her hate for men so easily after realizing she's in love with Chikai. A guy with such an unlikeable personality. I mean, he's such a narcissist! So conceited. He didn't even think that it was wrong of him to make someone else fall for him while he already had a girl friend. He was just so full of himself that he couldn't bear to see a girl who couldn't fall for him. And then when the girl fell for him he kept saying that he had a girl friend. Oh yea, because telling her now will do any good. And even when he breaks up with his girl for Hanabi..uggh! Hanabi and chikai..their whole relationship to me...is just SO unnatural. like they starting hanging out right after yukine and him broke up. I really don't think they have any chemistry. and I also think that Hanabi just jumped at the opportunity to date him. Maybe her personality really is like a puppy.
anyway it wasn't terrible to read. I just..don't really like the characters I guess. And the whole flirting even though he's already in a relationship. and Hanabi being the cause of the break up. And how their whole thing is just so unnatural. well to me anyways. ick.

Potential gone

The transition from man-hater to girl-in-love was not smoothly done. Hanabi isn't well-developed enough to carry the weight of a phobia and all we see of the male lead is his jerky side. Any good in him is assumed. He treats her badly; she falls into her emotions and discards rational thought.

Emotional diarrhea seems like a pothole a lot of shoujo manga falls into. Shame.
