He was content at living out his life with his good friends Tsubaki and Watari until, one day, a girl changed everything. Miyazono Kaori is a pretty, free spirited violinist whose playing style reflects her personality. Kaori helps Kosei return to the music world and show that it should be free and mold breaking unlike the structured and rigid style Kosei was used to.

She told a lie in April, hence the title. Throughout the story, there are bits of hints here and there that showed that the protagonist was the one she truly cared for. I can't say I'm a fan of the ending. The author is cruel for having Arima experiencing a second loss in his loved ones especially when he took such great effort to finally move forward.
A must read

Not usually into stories centreing around music, however this was well done and drew me in successfully. So much so I was driven to read it through to the end within a day.
The story just works, and by the time the last or second last volume comes around you almost know what to expect yet at the same time can't help but hope...
The last two volumes, especially the last couple chapters had me clearly in tears, tearing up nearly like a baby.
The last chapter leaves you with a bittersweet "wait what!!?" Moment as you realize the story is over.
You almost wish the author had a five or ten year later story followup and yet you KNOW it's best left where it was. Leaving anything more to our imaginations or fanfiction.

Problematic, but it's good.

The females are obnoxiously violent and abusive for no good reason at all--the worst kinds of tsundere characters.
The endgame pairing is extremely disagreeable.
But the story is good and well written. It's meaningful, and the romantic relationship between the two main leads is deep and rather profound. It's worth reading, but one shouldn't ignore its bad points.

This is one of my favorite mangas by far. I love the progression of the story and the sadness that accompanies it. I also appreciated how short the manga was (44 chapters) rather than the usual drawn out story lines with irrelevant fillers. Though it's short, you really relate and feel for the characters, making the ending that much sweeter (despite what happens).
No Sugarcoating.

The premise is okay if not a bit cliche, but I let it go because honestly, I'm a huge fan of music-based mangas, but this one wasn't it. It went okay at first, I suppose, you know the whole - boy suffers from horrible past that stops him from doing his thing, he meets beautiful girl who inspires and encourages him, he begins to change and gets over his past, etc. Yeah, I like things like that, I find it typical yet very adorable and sweet, but for this series - I did not fall in love with the characters.
I'll be blunt here honestly, I'm not a huge fan of abusive female heroines. I don't find it humorous nor do I find it cute and it irks me how it's used numerous times in here. Apparently it's supposed to be comedy relief, but whatever. Honestly, the only characters I found borderline likable was Arima, Kosei, and Emi.
The end.
Honestly, Kaori's personality irritated me with how forceful she was towards Arima and how she thought it was reasonable to abuse him for no reason at all? It was clear that she was interested in Arima along with Watari? Watabi? What'shisfacethesoccerplayerdudeidk - ? Good points though, are her violin skills and her pretty face.
Tsubaki the best friend wasn't any better, typical childhood friend who ended up having self-denial over her feelings for Arima because she keeps trying to think of him as some helpless wimp who needs her apparently. It doesn't help that she's also abusive towards Arima.
The soccer baseball sports jock guy that I don't even remember the name of - the minute he started drooling at Kaori while simultaneously picking up other girls - I already knew I would dislike him. Pretty much your typical gross, superficial player type of character who's supposed to care and support his friends a lot despite his ways and has some sort of sad story of how he let his team down or whatever idk

Not much to say; just that the line "Fin." made me die a little. Just as a bad break up, "四月は君の嘘" took a part of my heart. *Sobbing as a girl*

This beautiful manga about kids going on a journey through life with music has been giving me tragic foreshadowing since the very first chapter. Maybe it's just me and my melodramatic tendencies but every chapter leaves me with a bittersweet taste, especially on the romance asp3ct. I'm not saying that the manga disappoints. It definetely does not disappoint - it actually tells a great story of hope for a boy who lost his zest for music. If you ignore the undertones of loneliness and fear, this manga is a light read. I recommend this to music lovers and fans of self-discovery stories.
Fantastic!!!

Surprised there are no comments for this one. It is a nice read, refreshing art. Doesn't quite feel like shounen but so far I like the character development, it is definitely promising. If I recall right, it is monthly releases, so though there is a long pause between chapters, the release itself is meaty. Reading this kept reminding me of Nodame Cantabile, which is no bad thing. And similarly, I kind of know where the story is going but not how I'll be taken there, which makes reading it fun (at least for now).

Rooting for the main characters, and hopefully the author makes the ending a happy one, and nothing too tragic happens in the middle. I am a sucker for a good ending, but that hospital visit worries me

The quote above from the MC sums up how I feel about the series at current translated ch19.
Feels like the first few volumes have been the prologue to better things to come.
Honestly it took a long time to actually settle on how i feel about this manga, but now I am eagerly waiting to see how Arima progresses as a musician and as a person from now on.
I am sure my rating of the series will go up now as more chapters are translated.
