I kinda like this series, the heroine is really strong and always speaks confidently and possesses some sort of charisma whenever she deals with certain problems. Although I was a little disappointed with the ending but I was really glad that there's actually a sequel. With that sequel, the story feels complete, that's why I would recommend you guys to give this series a try! (The baby boy was really cute)
Not shallow at all

The premise does sound superficial but trust me, it evolves into something that isn't. What we have in this story here is a badass female lead, a mysterious male lead, and cute side characters. And what others would call a bad ending I would call it realistic. The feelings and some of the things that happens such as needing a heir for survival purposes really fits the china old age perspective. What I do agree with some other reviewers is that the second volume is a bit rushed considering that the entire span of the first volume is one month while the second one is one whole year.

At first I read it and immediately figured it would be another one-dimensional story just for passing time on a hot summer afternoon... then the story grew deeper, and I saw some character development beneath all the seemingly shallow love.
Now I see that their relationship isn't so simple, and the two aren't just idiots in love... Can't wait to see more!

and theres season 2!!!
yeah the beginning was terrible, i stopped reading and forgot about it. But i tried rereading and skipping the first couple chapters.. and got so attached to the main character. Holy cow I actually really liked this though if i didnt know there was going to be a season 2 i would have been really upset.
sorta spoiler: The male lead is still an enigma, and the couples feelings for each other are still kinda up in the air so i'm really looking forward to season 2!!
anyway try it but be open to it. but if you liked the shallowness of the beginning, your're probably not going to like the middle/end. I think thats why the ratings are the way they are - a lot of ppl who liked the beginning stuck through and hated the end lol

The first volume as others have said was pretty good. But the second one just fell flat. It's like, you invest two volumes worth of time reading it, only to be right back to where you've started. This is the only manhua I've read, so I'm not sure how it compares to other manhua. I liked the male lead but there was just too little of him.
Good thing there's a sequel, that ending needed to go.

Like some of the other reviews have said, the first volume was really good. There was great chemistry between all the characters, and I found all the characters likable. However, the second volume was pretty rushed and all over the place. Squeezing 10 months into the second volume after having the first volume only cover 1 month was just not a good idea. And then trying to shed some light on Yuan Qing's mysteriousness on top of that was just too much. Not to mention, the disappointing ending which would have made me scream with rage if I had not found out that there was a sequel series to this which would continue the story.
Hmm?

Dear me. This is my first time reading manhua...== so i have no right to say this but.. I like the art, the story was intriguing, but in the second volume things were going to fast. And the ending? I don't want to even talk about the ending. It was just left like that and left me a wee bit dissappointed. The characters? Mimi was to my liking, but i somehow didin't like Yuan Qing at all...@@ Feeling a bit annoyed..:<
I'm so glad there is a SECOND SEASON of my favorite manhua XD

I really like this series and it's probably because of the heroine. I love her personality, she's strong, quick witted, kind (but not to the point where people will take advantage of it) and practical (the part I love the most). The hero is another likable character (a very interesting guy), until the very last chapter his personality is a big mystery.
In my opinion the story's pacing is a little fast but at least there's no boring moment in a chapter ^__^
Just like then others I felt disappointed with the ending because it felt like a cliffhanger but now it's obvious the author intentionally did it to create an opening plot for the second season. I manage to find some raw pages of the second season and I'm so glad Mimi is still the same Mimi in the first season lol!

Spoiler (highlight to view)
After I finish reading the two volume series, it's obvious the two main characters cared about each other but there were definitely not in love (maybe like!?) so to those who were thinking that the pacing was too fast that they didn't feel the love between the two was because they were not madly in love with each other. It would totally be out of character for both Mimi and Yuan Qing in my opinion if they suddenly start being in love with each other after being nemesis for the most part of volume 01. Also the fact that Mimi simply accepting Yuan Qing might never return or leaving her and their son proves that, although it was shown how she has grown to know and understand Yuan Qing personality more than the time she married him.

The premise seems horribly superficial.
What a "terrible fate" to be stuck with ugly looking people... but the guys aren't even deformed. They're just average non-bishonen men.
Not sure I can care for such a series.
