Cock and bull story.

Do you get me when I say: 'too dramatic'. It's like the world revolves around the two main characters, everything that happens surprisingly manages to have an impact on the main character in one way or another.

Well I guess its meant to, but come on:
Spoiler (highlight to view)
His girl friend gets raped by her stepfather and her mother abandons her for the stepfather, his twin brother and his mother commit suicide, his ex attempts suicide, he thinks his fake father is his father but intriguingly his father is the brother of the father he thought he had, his real father dies in a freeking car crash and his best friend dies in a motorcycle accident. =.="

Fascinating isn't it? ...Dont get me wrong, all this crap actually managed to entertain me... Somehow.

Edited by mod: Next time add spoiler tags, okay?

Very good, but a bit overloaded with drama.

Yeah, as the tile says. This is a very good manga, with a well developed
plot and characters you like and care about.
Of course being a psychological drama series it's packed with a lot of difficult
(if not disturbing) issues that many people have to deal with in their everyday
lifes... It's hard to say if it was planned that way, but I got the feeling that author
went a bit overboard with all the problems that the two main characters have to deal with and overcome
Spoiler (highlight to view)
mainly the fact that Kira was raped by her stepfather was a bit too much for me to bear (seriously it would be better if she acted the way she did towards men because of a bullying or smply because of shyness and not because of rape)
. Anyway I really liked the series, just when I read it again I'll gladly skip the most disturbing scenes...

I'll give it a solid 9.5

i've just finished this manga and all i can say is..why didnt i come across it sooner!its really nice..i really like the main characters.Rei and Kira are so sweet together.ah true love.aside from love, there are some disturbing plots like suicide, mental sickness, the usual dark stuff.so this series is definitely not your fluffy shoujo manga.

Mars is an extraordinary slice of life

This manga was like a great novel. It took me on a realistic journey of the trials tribulations but most importantl, the love involved in in life. It showed me that love is not all about romance and infatuation - it also includes accepting everything about your partner including their past because that is what makes you who you are. Mars also showed me that someone can still get close to their parents even after a turbulant childhood, that you can get over the mistakes of the past and form stronger bonds as two adults as apposed to parent and child.
AWESOME manga, it may not be perfect but it gets a "10" from me. i can't wait to read it again

I've always held the opinion that Mars is one of-if not the-best shoujo mangas out there. I intend to reread it very soon.

this manga is sophisticated, romantic to the appropriate extend, funny, balanced, smart, interesting, and so much more...the relationships are very well-developed...the characters were explored in each of their own way, so that in the end, you can't help but love them all (even the bastardly antagonist)....it's mellow, strong, sad, joyous, and completed on so many levels.....this is one of those manga that once finished, you have to let out a satisfying sigh, feeling completely full-filled, yet still lingering a sense of wanting for more.....this just an amazing manga....one of the rare fews that actually teaches you something about life....

the reality and heavy topics really got me.
there were funny moments,
the heavier stuff always seemed to weigh it down,
making it the perfect balance.
it started out just like any other manga,
but every volume stacked up the goodness,
making it worthwhile.

I couldn't get past the first major arc

I liked it, but I didn't get past the first arc, with that chick from the past and his twin brother. It was just plain annoying. The story would conclude that this was what happened, and make you think it was the end of that, but then it just keeps adding and adding on. For example, instead of just telling us the ONE *real* reason of what happened/who killed his twin, it was just layers. First, it was an accident. Then it was the chick from the past. Then it was suicide. Then it was Rei. OK!!!!!!! Get on with it already!
If someone spoils me and tells me the later arcs are not like that then maybe I will pick this up again. But jesus, it was just annoying.

It's pure love from the beginning to the end.

The author portraits with maestry the universve that we confine inside ourselves... and with extreme accurateness, she captures the subtilty of the nuances of a human soul... Our fears, our desires, the secrets we don't confess even to ourselves... our selfishness, our lack of humanity and our need for love and salvation...

Whoever start reading this story, will get deeply attached to the main characters, a kind soul and a troublemaker: the perfect couple. We might think at the beginning that Rei is the one protecting Kira, but when you read this, you realize that Rei is the one asking for redemption.

It's pure love from the beginning to the end.
