This isn't something that would sit well with feminists

And of course it wouldn't. We're in a world where promiscuous men are envied and loose women are despised, easily explained by the lesser burden on a man in the act of reproduction. Certainly the girl being forgiving and supportive is an (incredibly) ideal woman from a man's perspective, a feminist is (obviously) likely to think she is stupid. Well at least now I understand the ratings.
But sex aside, this is one of the rare series that has managed to touch a close chord with me. It's not just about track and field, if you've ever been in an international tournament in your life, you'll know all about the inferiority complex, desperate longing, painful realizations and depression that entail once you fail to meet the expectations put upon you.
But the manga doesn't just stop at that. If I have to put it poetically, at some point, reality ended and a reverie began. And it was a beautiful one.

I really liked the story. Even though it included cliché parts where i was afraid it was going to become a shoujo drama it stayed on track and it felt really original at the same time. Like some others say it reminds me a little bit of suzuka, but the story is really different. I really enjoyed reading this. There are some manga where they overcomplicate things and an incident can take volumes to cover but D-ASH really cuts in to the bone in some of those scenes, which I personally think is a nice breather from the homogene mainstream manga.

good seinen drama

The strengths of this manga are truly the various characters and their development to proper adults.
They all behave realistic and reasonable, you can hate and criticize them but that's just the cruel reality.
But I am a bit disappointed, at how the story progresses halfway through …
However, if you want to read a fast-paced drama manga, with good romance (strict to the point and without the typical cliché’s) and a solid sports-mix, just give it a try! You will not regret it.

Just one Question for the guys who already read this manga:
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Did they just changed their childhood-promise from “if we are adults, lets date!”, to “when we are adults and meet again, lets fuck!?”. Was it a bad translation, or did I just get it wrong? Or they just wanted to do it? Please sent me a pm! I'm really curious about this :O

Amazing

IT IS AMAZING.

What's wrong with a homosexual scene? Good stories cannot have homosexual characters or a homosexual scene or people doing drugs? What?

You try promising to wait ten years to have sex with someone you've known for a couple days. What, the main character was not supposed to sleep around or something or what?
Not only that, he's not a fucking wimp like every single other romance/sports manga character. Sure, ego huge as crap, but he actually backs it up.

The female character is so fucking refreshing. She's not annoying, she's not stupid, dumb, or etc. She has strength but can cry, she has insecurities that she voices, she knows what to do, she's scared but faces her fears.

Other characters are nice and memoriable. I wish there was an extra bit to show a bit more of a conclusion, but what they had so far was amazing.
Overall, definitively good characterization.

Art is so cool. The last page was so damn cute. I know no problem with this crap.

I enjoyed reading it, I seriously did. I don't see the problem. A mature manga, yes. Amazing. Shit, I loved it.

I hated this so much, that if I had a copy of it I would burn it to ashes. there was only one thing I liked about this serie and that was Miki.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
His dead was really epic.

But other characters were a pain. And the art wasn´t enjoyable. If there are two mangaka´s, you would rather not see a page, where you can find 4 times ctrl+c, ctrl+v. and I found it. yeah!
The guy was a jerk, his women were brainless and horny, and the girl was boring. Nothing special.

another "Suzuka" type...

only this time, the rival died...
but thinking about it, the story, though it has the ecchi stuff, but it has the romance and plot that a very good manga should have. the ecchi is just for decoration, but the never ending love between Sae and Tsukasa has a deeper story within that captivates ones heart. I never though of finding a Suzuka type/quality of manga again, but here it is. though the story is only 5 volumes, but it is fully-packed with excitement. its like reading a sidney sheldon novel.
hope that there's a part II for this.

Stop hating tsukasa

I agree with the comment below. D-ASH just doesn't deserve all this hate. People say that they hated him for sleeping around while sae wasn't there. That is reality. He is not just gona wat for her twiddling his thumbs for something that might never happen. It is not guarenteed that he will meet her. He is trying to move on and concentrate on other things. Geez its better than the typical cliche wimp that we see such as in suzuka where the guy just cries and waits endlessly for his love who treats him cruelly at the beginning. I would prefer this kind of character to that wimpy loser anyway. Anyways after Sae comes back, he stops all that and even refuses to have sexual relationships after hearing that Sae has a fiancee and is going to sleep with him. That just shows that he is a solid character who is quite realistic. If people can move past the point, they will see after their reunion how much tsukasa changes. He gives up so much and teasures her so yea I disagree with all the people bashing Tsukasa. Anyways this manga is worth your read, it has some good romance, interesting characters and even some politics. The art is average.

D-ASH doesn't deserve this much hate. It's a story about growing up and remembering the past, displayed through a guy who can run fast and loves to do so. The first two volumes can really throw people off, but the direction of the plot changes in volume three, so don't worry.

Most people are brats when they are teenagers, the protagonist is no exception. He develops, so be patient.

17 chapters in and not too impressed. I really can't stand the main character. He really is the worst type of human being-- arrogant, sleeps around with like 100 women by the time he's 20, says he loves a girl, but doesn't really do much. Right now, I'm just hoping that when they do meet again, she just castrates him.

It gets worse as I get into it. She just accepts whatever he did like it was nothing. Plus, the guy is such a jerk who's so full of himself. Sleeps with her and says he'll forget everything.. yah, forget all his feelings just to get a piece. I'm done with the manga now.
