at least the beginning is not your average cute and romantic story. the main guy is quite cold and calculating, killing everyone who discovers his secret.
The girl characters is not very deep. Don't get me wrong, she is smart if quite naive, but her past does not show how she came to be such a responsible person in a royal household, since Jing females usually are well looked after.
Definitely "1001 Nights" references in there, you will see why.
Can't wait for the next chapters ^.^

Man it takes so long for a new chapter to come out i always have to read from the begining to make sense when it Does come out..its been ages when the last one came out.
And the thing is i cant drop it coz its SO interesting..i really wanna know how the king will think of her.(the female lead)

Frankly, I am annoyed by gorgeous noble characters who do nothing useful, but easily spend government money for dresses and so on ^^" ... But except this small thing - manhwa is great!
UPDATE some chapters later: Weeeell, after nice beginning it's turning out to be less exciting than i expected. Main characters are somewhat shallow and behave predictabely. I'm thinking of dropping, but i'll try some more chapters.
UPDATE2: I tried, but in the end i dropped it. I was hoping for some character / relationship development - but they stayed the same throughout the story. The main girl is so naive and soft-hearted and finds every rich beautiful powerful man to be poor wretched creature who needs her help (even if they are agressive mean bastards), that it would be easy for all main bishounens to do her, sorry for being rude. I actually hoped for it. Well, and the main guys - yeah, they are agressive mean bastards.

First off, I'd like to congratulate Yi Huan for massively improving her artwork. You can see that she has improved with experience and her characters do not look too choppy like they were in her previous series. I could finally read from chapters 1 - 7 without cringing at the characters looking weird at certain angles.
Second off, the characters are GORGEOUS. Lingyu and Yuanren are both really good-looking guys, so Ninghu is a pretty lucky girl!
Third off (& also with reference to my subject title), at first it was puzzling that a romance could even happen to an eunuch and the protagonist because eunuchs are castrated and hence loses all sexual urges. But after that, it started to make sense.
I highly recommend this series... it's rare to see eunuchs who are so good-looking (if you watch Chinese historical dramas you'd notice all the eunuchs are elderly old men with feminine voices *eek*)

How many chapters have you read of Scarlet Palace? Have you gotten your hands on the raws? I like it, the ancient china theme and the whole package. Though I'd like to see how Lingyu (that's her name right?) is treated by the king.
Only two chapters are out so far, but I'm totally intrigued by where the plot is going. This is the rare shoujo manga where I've no idea who the main couple is supposed to be; whether the characters other than the heroine are good or scheming, or both; or whether the male lead, who is a eunuch, likes women at all. If there's some smart political intrigue thrown into the mix, I couldn't be happier. More, please, more! <3
EDIT: OK, I now know the setup is more predictable than I initially imagined. Still, pretty decent.
