No point in the plot.

It seems in every one of Watase's works, she always adds pointless problems to the main characters. When I was reading this series, I couldn't remember all of the major problems as they weren't revelant to the story. It was jumping mainly because new characters are introduced and then the story gets side-tracked by going into their stories and how they're going to help the protagonist. Her numerous works, the reverse-harem theme is getting too old for my taste and I don't enjoy reading even this series.

Summarizing it, I'd said the whole time, Aya has to do everything in her power to convince Aki that they are still loving brothers and sisters. Even though the beginning to the middle sucked, Yuu always manages to end her stories good. But I can't give any of her works high ratings because I would rather read the ending to the beginning.

Not bad

As Chiira said, this series does exaggerate its sadness and violence. However, the storyline is interesting and doesn't have filler and the romance is angsty and painful, like any 'good' romance series. The main female character can be weak-willed and annoying at times, which is one of this series' flaws. It's definitely not a shoujo series for little girls. Anyone who likes this series may also like Ao no Fuuin.

If DRAMA is what you seek...

So I remember reading this as it was coming out back in the day, and truthfully I have no idea if I even finished it. I am certain I did, but I can't remember. Not because it was bad, but because when I think about it, there was just so much stuff going on, and the brother was being weird and a whole lot of other craziness going on.

I was thinking I should go read it again to refresh my memory for this comment, but something always tells me that I shouldn't do that. I don't remember hating the manga, but I didn't exactly like it. I remember it was really dramatic, I wasn't crazy about the female lead, and the brother was being weird.

I think people who like a whole lot of drama might really like this.

Such Drama

There is a lot of drama in this and made me cry a lot here and there in the story. So I really like it especially the part where Aya and Tooya get to stay together, but at the ending where Tooya said that he doesn't have much time left really ruin my happy ending moment. I mean seriously and I know that humans don't know when they will die, but when he said that he will die soon really ruined it for me. Besides that it was great.

omg the girl is soooo stupid she keeps annoying me with everything she does I know this is like one of the ´classics´ but I can´t stand the heroin and the guy she likes just pisses me off -_- the whole 'mystery' around him is not doing it for me, I got so annoyed that I read the first 2 volumes and then just skipped to the end. The end is ok but I really didn't like the beginning.

Kill It With Fire!

This is just like Fushigi Yuugi; the story progressively turns melodramatic soap opera! Aya shares a lot of similarities with Fushigi Yuugi's Miaka. They're both weak and pathetic heroines. One of those manga series that make you hold your head and scream: "Why! why! why!!!??" >o<!!!

I think it was great but not awesome. It didn't leave a big enough impression on me to make me want to buy the manga like some of the others I want and seeing how I can't completely remember it just shows how it's not significant or the story was just not unique enough for me to remember. I didn't remember parts of the beginning, ending, and very little of the middle. I would say it's not a waste of time to read.

MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE MANGA!

i couldn't ask for more. ayashi no ceres is my all time favourite manga written by my favourite mangaka, Yuu Watase. I really enjoy anc the moment i watched it's anime version then decided to read the manga version after that. it has a well-started plotline as well as the character development. although people might see this as a verry dramatic anime with very weak main character, i don't see any flaws in it.. it might be because i am blinded by the fact that THIS IS MY FAVOURITE MANGA and no matter how many times i read the 14 volumes, i wont find it very tiresome..LOL. recommended if you are a fan of yuu watase, like to see dramas and supernatural powers and beliefs.

I got about half way through this, and then it just got draggy. There didn't seem to be any real progress in the plot (how to deal with the Mikage) after a while. The drama and tragic elements were to contrived, definitely not tear-jerkers for me. I didn't like the guy she was going to end up with (once it got boring, I looked up spoilers). Aya got real annoying and didn't seem to have much depth. I know that's kind of a trademark of Watase's heroines, but I actually liked FY and Miaka, so I thought I'd give this a try. And it's really violent and bloody.

The art, however, is very nice.
