Humanity, having faced extinction at the end of the 20th century, would not have entered the new millennium if it weren’t for them. In 1969, during their youth, they created a symbol. Turckin. I think that's what it is-- like a turkey chicken. I'm near-positive that that hasn't been said. But other than that, I'd have to pretty much regurgitate what others've been stating below me: it's ****ing brilliant. A masterpiece. Well, most of them. As far as an epic (I know, I said it) goes, especially for Urasawa, it's magnificent. Not perfect, but come on - that's gotta be painfully obvious. Who even expects something to be perfect these days, any-who? The sheer quantity of characters would make you expect that, obviously, the quality of them would in turn be downsized, but because this series is so dag-nabbed long he has enough time to flesh them out.
As the characters, to me, aside from the settings, are the most important aspect of this series, I'm not going to comment on anything else-- especially the invisible core of it all: the mystery. So, if you're ever finding yourself bored and thirsty for a good mistree, and you're reading this, then the obvious choice to make is to read this monster. Lolwhogetsit.

Great manga.
The plot and the art are amazing.
Naoki Urasawa is a plot genious lol.
Just sometimes the flash-backs are to big, and gets a little boring.
And not to many action to.
But its definitly a must-read

lots of plot twists, maybe too many and the art isn't that good.
speechless
I've read an unthinkable amounts of manga. This has been one of my favorites that will never be knocked out of my top ten.... Once you think you have started to figure it out it takes another turn spinning your head but feeling as if there was no other way to go... don't anticipate while reading this.... this story will excede whatever you dreamed up and put you somewhere else, loving every minute of it.
If you haven't downloaded this series make sure you get on IRC and check it out. If possible (and i know some people don't have the cash) buy it. I honestly believe spending money on this manga will make you happy.. somehow.

The creativity for his works is so amazing. The plot draws you in just like his other mangas. There are a mass of characters mentioned in this manga that may cause confusion, but by finishing this in a couple of days, it helped me. There are many flashbacks in this manga to help reminisce the childhood of the characters and how they were when they were young so
The things that made me think that Naoki's other work "Monster" is better is because at times it seems like the plot drags on. Another is the massive amount of characters mention including the flashbacks for some characters can be very confusing for some people.
Overall, its a great manga that people should definitely read. I also recommend that you should read his Naoki' other great work called "Monster".

Have to agree with people here. This owns!
Read it!
Read it!
This manga is truely exceptional. It leaves nothing to be desired. The art is amazing and the story is both mysterious and exciting. If you have read Bananafish you are sure to enjoy this.
