Love.

Now that there are more chapters up, I'm taking my time to re-read. It's an easy going manga, nothing too serious, a light and fluffy read. I rarely like the tropes with really-popular heroine but I find myself loving Suiren. The humor is fun and the side characters are charming. The leads are great and the art is expressive(and effing awesome).

I am puzzled at some readers hating on the female lead. Even in the manga, there is no bullying Suiren for her being popular (which we see so freaking often in shoujo). This wasn't meant to be something deep, dramatic, and antsy. The only real conflict is mostly internal with *both* leads learning how to reach out, going through young love.

I find it refreshing. I'm sick of mangas with unnecessary conflicts and misunderstandings thrown in the mix when the leads themselves have enough issues.

Some readers view the lack of words from Suiren, or either lead, as a bad thing but I love that, in this, the art, already beautiful, is able to express what words cannot. There is no need for heavy dialogue and, really, the absence of infodumping and telling-not-showing is a relief. The reader doesn't need words all the time to empathize with the character and the mind is given a chance to piece the scenes together without stumbling and getting lost.

The author is in control and in a good way. The pacing is easy going (though it might get frustrating for those preferring faster resolution or angst to fill in the spaces in between). I love that neither lead strictly adheres to a certain *type* even if it may seem that way in the beginning. Yes, it may seem that we're getting to know more about the male lead than the female but only because we are placed in the POV of the female lead as she discovers more about Kawasumi and their blooming friendship. The short POVs we have from the male lead are also telling about his character and story but he hasn't managed to learn as much about Suiren just yet seeing as he is hesitant to know more because of an issue alluded to early on in the manga.

I got all defensive. Sorry. Still, this is a great manga if you're looking for something easy and heartwarming. I usually like my heroines with big and expressive personalities but Suiren had me falling for her. No crybabies or wimpish girls here which was surprising and had me grateful to the author for the simple surprises that came up when the characters weren't straight-out-of-the-mold-for-this-type-of-trope kinds.

So much awkward silences..

It was weird and the side characters were really pushy.. the main character literally can't speak a word to each other, and the main girl is essentially a beautiful mute. It really irritated me when they went to meet up but then the "friends" would suddenly and randomly intrude and then ask extremely rude questions (yeah I'm talking bout the karate rival). The only reason she gets away with everything hinges on her beauty. Why is she a mute? Because she gets too much attention since she's so pretty. Why does he like her? Her beauty. Why does he put up with silence? Her prettiness. Like literally weeks past and she's only spoken a few words to him. Everyone in the manga is unreasonable and illogical. None of this would happen in real life and it's only saving point is its art.

pretty art style, but 2d characters

When I first started reading this manga, I thought, this seems interesting and very unique. The art is refreshing and having a female lead who's actually 'attractive' in the eyes of other characters - it was new, but as the romance was getting starting ...

I felt like this manga would have been better off as a oneshot because their relationship is dragging on so much with the romance development - which I don't understand. I like slow romance because it's more realistic, but when I'm reading this and I'm watching the interaction between the main couple - it feels so ... I don't know, awkward and force and I feel like they're not the type of couple that will last long in the future - especially bc they have absolutely nothing in common.

Male lead worries too much about burdening the female, the female lead feels like a burden in general towards the male lead - they get wishy-washy over their feelings over ... Nothing? They can't even talk properly to each other without being super sensitive over the smallest things.

Honestly, the art is so pretty, I love it, but like ... The characters are so boring and bland ... I can't find myself attached to Suiren or the male MC or even the side characters whom I can't even remember the names of. I don't understand their feelings for each other too? Why do they like each other? They have nothing in common, they can barely speak to each other, the most they do is stare at each other, and they're still having trouble saying "Hi" to each other without being extremely tense or awkward.

Boring

It's full of fluff and cuteness, something I would really like in a manga, but this one just make me feel... nothing. It starts off interesting, but srsly, Suiren is so plain in a very annoying way. You could punch the girl and she wouldn't have any reaction at all. I don't even get the reason she's like that. Probably got explained later in the manga but it's so boring I don't even remember anymore. Also, it looked as if the glasses guy (don't even remember his name orz) only liked Suiren because she's pretty, because she doesn't even talk ??
Seriously though, this thing about "as long as you're pretty/handsome you will be the center of attention and every goddamn person is gonna love you forever" is so OVERLY USED like no, just no, stop this already, this is NOT how it works in real life.
It's as if the author doesn't even know wth she's doing, and just put whatever idea she comes up with.
The art is super pretty though, the only thing that kept me going for a while, but the non-existent plot is a total turn-off.

HHHHHNNNNNNNGGGGGGG! >//< is the right phrase for this manga. It's cute, it's sweet, it's ridiculously adorable. It's a good thing my heart still can handle it. Okay, I'm a bit exaggerating now, but I tell you what, beware of the amount of cuteness in this manga. Be ready to squeal all over the place.

Some more from me..
The story is actually quite simple, you know, about innocent love and stuff.. and yes, the pace is slow, like, really slow. But nah, it doesn't really matter. The art though.. It's really outstanding. So yeah I really recommend this to everyone. Read it, now.

Dropped at Chapter 36

The art is beautiful and the characters are cute. Like others have mentioned, it's just a very slow romance-- the main characters are very shy. I imagine that some folks enjoy that type of storyline but it's not my cup of tea and I had to call it quits after 36 chapters.

It hooks me.

Personally, I'm the kind of person who really likes light hearted manga without too much (or none at all) drama. I like that they're shy and that this is their first time falling in love. It IS very slow and has a feeling of softness... So if you aren't really into these kinds of manga you definitely won't like this.

But one thing I've noticed, the main reason why I watch out for new releases like a hawk is because the endings always make me squeal at the last page of the chapter. Always. Whatever the content of the chapter, the last few pages always makes me want to continue reading.

So basically,
The characters are cute, nothing too out there (which is the main reason why I like it), and even though it's slow, it still manages to make me want to continue reading.

Love this to bits!

Yes, this manga is slow. The is no action. Actually, the characters hardly talk. And I love every bit of it!

I get so much fuzzy feeling while reading this manga. It's so innocent (it's like I'm again a young teenager), yet not dumb, annoying, naive. Very fresh, free of shoujo cliches. Cute and heart-warming. I love both Suiren and Kawasumi (I want Kawasumi for a boyfriend and Suiren for a girlfriend, haha). I won't say I recommend this manga to everyone, I think it's very specific and I understand some can find it irritating, but for me it's one of the best shoujo manga I've read.

The art is lovely, so is character design.

Slow paced romance... but still enjoyable

At first I didn't really think I would care too much for this manga. However, it is a light, relaxing and pleasant read. I found myself enjoying the characters and the silent moments all throughout the chapters. If you like slow paced romances I would recommend this to you. The characters are cute in their own way; and the biggest conflict is finding the strength to step out of ones comfort zone to express oneself.

If your looking for a quick romance or a quick personality change in a blink of an eye this manga is not for you. The story does not feel like its dragging (compared to other manga that I thought was dragging), in fact for the time being the story pace seems ok.

If your trying to decide if you should read this manga or not, I say only try it if your looking for a slow paced romance.

Absolutely Adorable

Out of all the manga I've read so far (quite a lot), this has to be one of the most genuinely cute stories ever. The leads' chemistry is engrossing and is reminiscent of the innocent, courtly love held as one of the olden times highest ideals. The female lead especially is like an ultra Yamato Nadeshiko biggrin While this might be annoying and forced in stereotypical "cute" characters, she comes off as refreshingly innocent. So far, a beautiful read! Highly recommended for anyone who wants a genuinely innocent shoujo!
