That's what it is. The premise is trendy but the development, interaction between characters, events are very cliched. Plot armour, deus ex machina, contrived plot devices and the whole lot that we all know and find irritating can be found in copious amount in this LN. I feels as if author had trouble moving the plot forward after every 3-4 paragraph and threw in some absurd plot device to get it along.

Moreover, its tiring how black and white everything is. There are no grey characters of note. If there is one bad guy in the clan you can safely assume the entire clan is bad, and they all always go into rage mode against our Gary Stu aka MC for what ever reason. And if there is one good guy in the clan you can safely assume his entire clan is good, and they always admire/love/respect our Gary Stu.

If you guys haven't read the LN, i sort of recommend it. The grammar of it is not that great but it's readable. Right now it's on wuxiaworld. Nie Li is pretty much an asshole of a character. There's no character development for him yet since he has lived his past life pretty much like an asshole and still doing it being transported back in time. He's arrogant, yet has a strict sense of justice. Doesn't care about appearances, ranks, age difference or whatnot yet not exactly a 'good' overall person. He's obnoxious when dealing with anyone whom he thought of in the past life as not acquainted to him or he thought of as distant or didn't protect the city. As an MC in chinese LN's, he's pretty much below most of them, however, the lore behind the power and magic in this is simple and easy to understand compared to other Chinese LN, in my opinion. Overall, I wish for a lot of character development instead of just developing their power and telling us how 'fast' they were cultivating their own power. So far, the only character I really like in this LN is Du Ze, next being Xiao Ning Er. Du Ze represents a strong calm leader type while Ning Er is a strong woman lead, yet they didn't use her as a strong love interest of Nie Li. The Chinese had better utilize these small little tools for better character development rather than they're skewed approach to literary works. Oh well, the Communist Party wouldn't allow that since it shows weakness. duh!

Its a great shounen story.

Excert from ch 114: "Seeing the Abyss Bear’s huge butt rubbing on his face, Ye Zong was simply exploding from the anger pent up."

Its funny, nuff said.

The author never skips a beat describing the great beauty of all the female characters. Even when it is not needed. For instance, at one point, one of them laughs alone in her room and he goes on to say how charming it is. This seems quite a bit excessive and gets annoying because we get it, she's pretty. You, narrator, don't need to keep reminding us. It gets annoying reading the same thing over and over,

Moving on to the story, it is about a ungodly knowledgeable hundreds of years old person sexually harassing his love interest, a preteen. Even though he was transported back to when he was a preteen, it still seems somewhat creepy. But that's not even the main problem with the story: the main problem is that all the bad guys are one dimensional caricatures and the female characters we basically only know what they are in relation to the MC because they are in love with him. We have the main love interest which we know wants to be a demon spiritualist and basically nothing else, we have a director of the alchemist association who's only job is apparently keeping the MC happy and following all his requests, we have another MC love interest who also wants to be strong and has some sort of disease, and we have an older student who's just pretty? Not only that, the author feels the need to always point out how they are all virgins because readers will obviously be disgusted if one of them wasn't "pure". You can sum up the author's view from this line in chapter 60: "Although she’s a woman, no one in the Heavenly Marks Family had the slightest contempt for her in their hearts. She is, after all, a powerful existence." Obviously, this means that otherwise, contempt for women is normal.

There are other story issues

The MC is also too knowledgeable. He is the top scholar in alchemy, demon spiritualist, archery, history, everything! By the 70th chapter, he is a billionaire, has all the resources he needs, and legendary items. He also makes wild assumptions that don't really make sense with the information he has. At one point,

Then we come to the writing. I don't know if this a cultural difference or the author is just a bad writer, but you will notice that the narrator describes a lot of things that it feels as if it was part of the story. For instance, the MC does something and the narrator says that it was "too outrageous". This is a somewhat awkward use of the word when usually it is used as a description of an action, not a person. Descriptions like this are usually used to describe reaction but when it is the author saying it, that mean he is reacting to it, not the characters in the story. Also, notice the awkward English from the sentence "She is, after all, a powerful existence." and think about the last time someone in America said someone was a "powerful existence". I would wager that no one has ever talked like that.

In summation, childish story with awkward (in English) writing combined with horrible subtext gives a below average work.

The author never misses a chance to say how perky are the breasts of a girl and how sexy her hips are lol. There is also some inuendo from time to time, but it doesn't get excessive.

The MC is very OP: very strong, very intelligent and handsome. He also has knowledge about nearly everything out there (from demonic beasts and martial arts to alchemy), his book-smarts surpassing everyone else's in the world.

This novel's world is the typical post-apocalyptic scenario where the humanity has been driven into a corner by demonic beasts, people living in gigantic cities defended by walls and strong experts...

As for the relationships....there's an almost certain love triangle but I'm sure it will become a harem in the near future..

I won't lie, this novel has almost all the things I dislike about a novel: very cliche, way too OP MC and harem.

Normally I wouldn't even spare a glance to this type of novels, but when I started reading it I didn't know it had those kind of things and by the time those elements appeared I had already grown to like the novel.

Probably I'll only continue to read it until problems will appear in "paradise" (aka relationship related drama) but I'm certain that most of the readers will love this novel since the author's writing style is not boring, the novel has a light-hearted vibe and a comedic subtone combined with fantasy, adventure and of course, many lecherous descriptions of female characters...this is what it sells now since most of the readers are hormonal teenagers, but I'm getting side-tracked here..

If you love fantasy, adventure, very op MC and smut, this is your cup of tea

I'm currently at the current chapter in the raws kinda gets really predictable at points but not bad the biggest thing I'm having a problem with is female lead i know it's difficult to make a completely unique female lead but at least make it different because she is in no way different, you could pluck her out replace her with tons of different novels female leads or at least love interest to the mc and you wound not find anything amiss she is the lonely female princess that tends to find the mc annoying at first but develops feeling for are mc also she has good heart and her powers relate would relate to water or light which in this case is ice. Here is example ATG Xia Qingyue personality pretty similar only real difference is Xia Qingyue is colder towards the mc.

The cultivation the mc picked annoyed me a lot because truth be told it is really cliche, Heavenly God Cultivation Technique he gets 7 demon spirits and is overall the strongest because it builds a strong foundation. I get that the mc has to have really strong cultivation technique but it's really over used example Chaotic sword god mc technique if you have read it up to a certain point you'll get what i mean, I would have preferred the author not do something so cliche. But it doesn't take away from the story so far not to mention but y'know when your town in about 5 to 6 years will be destroyed you would think the mc would pick a faster cultivation technique even if it isn't the strongest in the future just saying.Besides that it's also very bland i mean all it does is allow the person to have more than one demon spirit and have a better foundation than most that's it it might have more power in the future but now it's very bland boring.

Other than that i do like the mc refreshing from the typical xianxia protagonist.

Edit, Well i think i might drop the series the female protagonist is really starting to get on my nerve i really dislike her personality.

It begins well, as at least unlike his crazy peers in xianxia/wuxia, the mc isn't a crazy maniac... yet. There are some alarming pieces of evidence around the story, but the mc could still have a bearable personality!
So I hope for the better.
Apart from that, it's the usual weak-to-strong chinese story, but this time he has a goal and doesn't search power for power itself.
