Description
The story takes place in an era similar to that of ancient Rome in a country called Chronos. It follows a group known as the Temple Mercenaries. In particular, the manhwa is about Ares, Michael and Baroona, three young warriors with mysterious pasts and surpassing skills...
The manhwa is notable for its subtle use of anachronistic elements (Ares' shoes are similar to that of classic Adidas), as well as very dynamic and fluid action sequences.

The art....

The art is probably the biggest hurdle in this manga. If you can get past that, it's fine (when I first looked at the cover, I thought that it'd be shojo-like.... Was I any more wrong. I'm okay with the art, I think it adds an interesting feel to the manga.)
The first 100 or so chapters of this manga were decent, enough to keep me hooked. But past that... Ares becomes addicting and amazing. (if you can get that far) This manga probably brought out the strongest emotional response I've had to any manga, ever.
Overall, I think it's worth checking out.

Anybody giving this manhwa less then a 5 is retard and can't grasp a great storyline. The art may not be pleasing but it doesn't give you fairy tale bull. The manhwa is not confusing if you actually READ, and not just look at the artwork

I understood the manhwa perfectly, maybe because i read from 1-190 in 2 days. i don't understand whats the big deal with the art >_> its not an eye-soar it's just an art style that the author chose.
The story was pretty good and at the end my head exploded because of the twist :'(
I laughed at some points but it was a very serious story and remember not all manhwa or manga are supposed to be a comedy. the story is about vengeance and war. oh and i could distinguish who was who easily.

simply put, this is the best series i ever read. sure, it can be a bit confusing, but i like having to think a little. i love how the author goes into detail over EVERYTHING. war is confusing, and it plays a huge role in the story. so, people who think this is a confusing series, you're just stupid or you dont think. the characters are great and have awesome pasts, the art is nice because it is so different, and the series is even funny at times and serious when needed. the fight scenes are great and i like how there is no fantasy or magic and crap in it. its my absolute favorite thing to read, i just wish the chapters came out quicker. XD

If you like the same old protagonist who has awesome-super-duper powers that can kill everyone in one strike - don't read. If you can't stand war, and strategical tactics and taking time to actually check the details, don't read. If you want perfecto art (and doesn't give a crap about anything else) don't read.
For the love of hell, Ares stands out as a progressing story with uniqueness, not the same recycled plots which you can go read in Naruto or Bleach. Its art quality, plot and characters develop together - so really, if readers would just put a little patience in and keep reading instead of deeming it "crap" and dropping it at the first few dozen chapters, they'll be rewarded with reading a good manhwa. And enjoying it.
So would those who want to slam this manhwa actually give some decent negative points about the manhwa instead of slamming those readers who actually like this story?
You ain't getting more cookies that way, ya know?

TaoPaiPai said it well. I have to give it some points for starting okay, but after that everything really just goes down hill, fast. I am very confused by people giving this 10s, and saying the art is great... what? What is great about the art? Is it because you can usually tell that a person is being drawn, simply because sometimes you can make the arms and legs out? Is that what makes this art something wonderful?
One more thing, for people who think it is really -just- the art that makes people label this as crap: You had to read far into it, and possibly several times.. a ~little~ bit of understanding of the human mind would explain why this crap starts looking good. It is the same reason that listening to a really really horribly offensive, in all ways, song it will start to sound good if you listen to it often enough. Something like 10 times and the song will start to sound good.
The same with really bad smells, if you are stuck in them your body will adjust so you don't smell it anymore, or so it doesn't smell bad to you. Hence, this is crap. You forced yourself to trudge through this crap more than a normal person would. You were rewarded by your mind adjusting to the crap in such a way that the art might seem good to you now, or the convulted story might make as much sense as a twisted picture. Good job masochists. ^_^ This is for people slamming the negative reviews, thinking that people who don't like this series assume we are brain dead bafoons who only saw the cover and never attempted to actually read this stupid thing.
Look at the guy down a few posts who mistook a panda for a skull, but still gave a 10. Come on!
Anyways, besides the absolutely horrible art, and the fact that all the characters have the same look on their face of "Hrm, well, today happened... yup" and the art making it so you can't really tell to many characters apart, add in the fact that so many characters are introduced that look the same, and it becomes one big mess of characters and talk. Eventually it breaks down to just looking at the pictures and trying to make up a story to go along with it, because the story itself is so inane.
So yeah, art = bad. Story = confused and annoying. Characters = Characters, where? Overall = Find something else to occupy your time. After the first little bit of "this could be interesting" it swiftly turns into a giant mess that makes the Gordian Knot look like child's play.

The unique example of good shounen manga drawn after 2000. We have a protagonist who actually KILLS his enemies, has a GIRLFRIEND and doesn't give a damn about your common sense and moral principles. And of course the antagonist whom you can actually hate(Though I like him, he's kind of an asshole you can admire). Also the art during battle scenes is great.
We have a really good manhwa. It's not as good as Shin Angyo Onshi but I still can give it

The story seems so great at first. But it became confusing in the later chapter, i can't seem to recognize characters, especially with that kind of weird lousy arts (most of the characters have that "boring" look in their faces).
It really isn't all that. Really.

Pace is sluggish, art is hardly candy for the eyes, characters are almost as shallow as the plot, and a child could think up a better atmosphere and present it better. I don't understand why it's receiving so many tens, nor why it's been deemed "best manhwa ever"-- especially since anything Youn In-Wan and Yang Kyung-Il poops would be better than this train wreck. There isn't any ambition in this series, which is painfully evident in the lack of anything "new" or thoughtful. The cast of characters is largely unlikeable-- again - shallow and unoriginal. Even if there was some development, some actual character development that was needed from the plot, I'm afraid they would still remain as unlikeable as they are when they first appear. Almost as bad as Hellsing. Almost.
