First I'm not too sure when reading it... but the development is really great and fascinating. And the arts keeps get better.

Great art overall. The art style Yagi Norihiro developed since Angel Densetsu has fully matured in this manga. The story itself is good but it really picks up later on.
The main character is the best example of strong female protagonist I've seen to date. (AKA- She isn't a man with breasts and she isn't a weak willed emotional wreck.)
edit: Warning for the impatient- This series is full of cliffhangers.

Amazing my number one favorite manga awsome art great and sad story Raki is the best because if weren't for him alot of people would think differently of Clare in real life. Also if it was all just blood and gore it would probably get a lower score because it's just senseless killing. Anyway still cant wait for the next volume and such.
Definitely getting better

After reading the first few volumes, I thought this manga was terrible and dropped it from my reading list. Fortunately, I came back, because it gets pretty enjoyable as you progress further and further. The character designs and costume designs are very attractive and the action is fast-paced. While the story is pretty minimal, the stuff that is there is interesting enough to make you want to read more and more. After spending weeks forcing myself through the first four volumes, I read the remaining eight in two sittings.
It does have some fairly big flaws, though. The art frequently gets repetitive since all the Claymores look almost the same, other than slight hairstyle variations, and mostly wear identical armor. It can be troublesome to figure out who is who at times. A lot of the enemies, too, end up looking pretty similar, if not downright identical. The mangaka can clearly draw great looking characters and enemies, but it needs more imagination and variety. I realize it's a shounen manga, but I wish they would spend less time talking about the rankings of the Claymores' power levels. The world is also starting to feel like an all-female version of Berserk.
Really, the biggest flaw that keeps my score from being higher is that none of the characters are really all that likable. They play their roles in the story well enough, but there isn't a single character I'd be upset to see killed off.
Anyway, if you like dark action manga, such as Berserk, you should probably give this manga a try, but be prepared to think the first three volumes are garbage.

This is possibly the best shounen action manga I've read -- it borders on seinen because of the depth the series gains as it progresses. The characters are simply amazing. Each one of the Claymores is a unique warrior with a complex history. Part of the pleasure of reading this manga is discovering the stories behind the different Claymores. They aren't treated like women usually are by shounen and shoujo manga -- they're purer, in the sense that they're people, not mere gendered stereotypes. The women in this manga are real women -- well, except for the super powers, but you get what I'm saying. They are honestly and perfectly characterized, with neither their strength nor their vulnerability being exaggerated.
Not all of the Claymores are the noble warriors you may expect to meet after reading the first few chapters. Some of them are noble, sure, but some of them are indifferent, and others are malicious. Like any other group of human beings, they have flaws and the ability to overcome those flaws. What's rewarding is watching the flawed characters come to grips with their pasts and their mistakes, and try to improve themselves. It's a very universal and moving struggle. The Claymores' fight to retain their humanity isn't unlike the internal moral battles we non-manga people go through.
I totally agree with Laclongquan's review earlier. The manga's world opens up and grows more absorbing as you read it -- what seems at first to be a typical shounen plot gains incredible complexity without losing any of its coherency. Politics, power, ethics and of course personal angst are all brought to bear brilliantly. The mangaka has really done something amazing with what starts out as a simple monster-hunting concept.
My sincere thanks to the groups that are scanslating this manga for us. You guys rock.

This series started really well and had a lot of premise. Half way through it started to loose its focus, the story couldn't decide who the main character was anymore. It would build up the story then move onto another character making the main plot slow and painful to follow. By chapter 106 I lost interest in anymore.
