i liked the manga! the art and fashion is amazing, the characters are cute and lovable, and the plot is good. of course the ending was somewhat sad....and i semi-dont like it either. this is manga, where you imagination runs wild and you can escape from reality....i dont want it to be REALISTIC!!!! but this is still a great manga, but it was kinda rushed. you should read this!

I could write a book on why I love parakiss (In fact, I got through about 2 paragraphs before my better judgement told me to quit while I'm behind, lol).

In tech terms, the art and fashion is amazing and it defies shoujo stereotypes with emotionally complex characters and the perfect plot (no matter what others may say about the ending, the ending made it what it is).

Simply put, it's the kind of manga you could read over and over. And it's so true to life that I've cried, laughed out loud, swooned, etc. every time I have read it over. Each time I finish it, I feel like I've discovered something new and insightful.

Ten!

It was intriguing from the beginning, where our main character is pulled into this new and quirky world of fashion. Themes like looking for one self, figuring out what you want to do resonated with me throughout the manga.
The romance was interesting between Caroline and George. And I believe that the ending
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
was what the best for both of them. It portrayed the romance realistically, of loving and letting go. I didn't think that I would like an ending where the two protagonists don't end up together, as I think we all to some extent wish for happy endings. But what is the meaning of a happy ending anyway? At the end, Caroline and George did not end up together, but they have each found their own path, followed their dreams and aspirations. From the way the story was built, I think it was the best and most fitting ending considering their personalities.
In the end, Paradise kiss' beautiful storytelling managed to stir up conflicting emotions in me and made this read very enjoyable.

This is really a bittersweet manga and i love it.
I gave it only a 9.9 , because I felt when I gave it a 10 I really would have to admit that the ending was the best for Yukari and George (I really thik it was for the best, BUT...)
So this is one of the most touching manga I ever read!

Oh gosh i'm depressed reading this. The main character really grows though i can tell you this, i think i've fallen in love with her only really late in this series and to tell you the truth i don't like George, so i'm happy about the way it ended. I think it's really interesting how George's character kind of changed drastically in volume two but regardless its a good manga...if a bit sad XD

Relieved at the ending

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Wow, I'm glad I went back to finish this series... I gave up reading it after finding out- halfway through volume 2- that Yukari and George wouldn't end up with each other. (Sigh. I shouldn't have read spoilers.) But I picked this series up again after reading the good reviews about it, and after finishing the rest of the volumes, the ending just seemed right. I was actually relieved to see Yukari end up with Hiro, because he seemed like the person Yukari was seeking for. And he's more reliable. George seemed like the person to open up Yukari's insight on something besides cramping in a room studying, and with the rest of the team, teach Yukari to do what she liked and help her mature. I think Yukari matured the most through her relationship with George, and if they had ended up together, it would have been a futile effort and awkward. (Plus, it wouldn't fit Yazawa Ai's "style"!) Great story and the art was well drawn.
I am curious, though, what happened to George and Kaori in the end...

I think this was the series that got me to like Ai Yazawa's works.

The storyline wasn't too crazy or anything(I mean, no otakus or gundam robots were running around), but it was definitely enjoyable. The characters were refreshingly cute(in a realistic way), and the romance was nice and dramatic, which is my guilty pleasure, so that was a plus.

And even though the ending wasn't a classic happy ending, it was still satisfying, because it left everyone happy, even though they weren't all together.

And isn't happiness what everyone wants?

MY FAVORITEST MANGA OF ALL TIME!

this is probably my most favorite manga of all time. Paradise Kiss was the first manga I have ever read, and even after reading so much manga, I have not been able to find anything like this! The characters are so utterly realistic and they are glorified in all their flaws. Yukari is perhaps the most realistic, she is uncertain of what she wants to do in her life, and when she is given the chance to choose after complaining so much, she has no clue what to do with all the freedom. Being overwhelmed with all that is going around her, she is completely lost in the world she is in now, and of course the hunk George <3

The story that was created was so realistic in the sense that everything in life doesn't really work out the way we want it to now does it? That is a harsh reality, and I think that was one of the main themes Yazawa was trying to portray in this story.

Beautiful piece of work, beautiful storyline which you can easily become emotionally attached to. In fact, I'm rereading the whole series for the 3rd time, I can't get enough of it!

I read this manga a long time ago but decided to make a review just now (since I just re-read it).
This is indeed the manga that introduced me to Ai Yazawa's mangas, and I'm really thankful for that.
Even though her art style is "different", I really like it. As for the plot, I think it was excellent. I hated the sad ending and every time I read it I can't help but cry, but I still have to admit I love the story as a whole (yes, even the ending..I agree with gigglemepiink, the ending made it what it is).
I also think that the characters were well developed and they are not our typical characters, they're all really complex and they give this "realistic" feeling.
I totally recommend this manga to everyone.
10/10
