Often the romance in manga is made from the couple fighting to get together somehow or there being various other people interfering in some way (threesomes or more). I've found some examples of the couple mostly being together but i wish there was more. Often the series end once the couple get steady together, get married or some other such event. I am looking for a lasting romance where the couple don't really hit into other love interests. Futari Ecchi could be an example of this kind of manga as could Love Lucky. Change 123 is another one i like where the couple actually stay together (even if the romance isn't the main focus of the manga, and that is fine too). The guys in these are all really whimpy, that certainly isn't a requirement (in fact i would probably like it better if the guy wasn't a whimp). The romance genre might not be made for this kind of story, but if there is romance in some other sort of genre that is fine too (for example i like Until Death do us Part even if the romance there is really light, if there was more romance it would fit better). Monogamy seems to be underrepresented in manga compared to the real world (but then noone want to read about "boring", "normal" lives). Also preferably seinen though that certainly is no requirement...

basara , saiunkoku monogatari ( sort of..), shin kotaro makitarou (sort of like ranma 1/2 w.o the annoying interferences ) touch ( more baseball than romance though) , parallel.
all i can think of now.

Of those the only one I've read is parallel. That is not exactly what i meant. The whole manga is based around the fact that they can't really be together openly because of their living situation and that they are reluctant to admit it to each other. Once they finally "get together" it ends (while i did like it does not fit what i am looking for here). I'll check out the others though.

Try Itazura na kiss, it was good romance, the protagonists gets married, the story continues after that.
Quote from Meow-kun
I second everything, even the last sentence.
I can also suggest Karin.
For something similar to Until death do us part, I'd say Gunslinger Girl but the romance is even lighter.

Hmm... Immortal Rain is a lot like that. The romance, as soon as it starts (pretty much shows itself in the very first volume) remains strong. Although there are villains, they're not the "I'm going to get your boyfriend, no matter what!" kind of villains. They're more like... nihilistically insane people whose motives are much greater. XDD So the romance isn't the main focus of the story, but it remains an important point throughout the series. Beware... the art improves hugely as the story goes on, but the first volume looks a little strange...
