Looking for a romance manga where the boy makes pained faces watching the girl he loves, maybe because she is unattainable. Though of course he gets her in the end.

Something like Sonna Koe Dashicha Iya! or Asa mo, Hiru mo, Yoru mo.

Because suffering boys is hot.

Completely scanlated manga preferable.

Fruits Basket?
Spoiler (highlight to view)
In the case of Yuki and Tohru. He doesn't get together with her, though, but with someone just as adorable. <3 And the manga is amazing.

Ahahahaha. Sadists unite!

*creeps herself out*

Erm, I know what you're talking about - I love it when guys look tortured because of love!

Question, though: When you say you prefer "complete" manga, do you mean completely scanlated or just complete in Japan?

Some suggestions:

Koishi Tagari no Blue (LOST PUPPY-DOG EYES OF HOPELESS LOVE, MWAH!)

Hakuji ("you're too beautiful for me to ruin!" - best pained expression of tortured love/lust)

Strobe Edge (takes a while to get there, but OH some of his expressions are GOLD)

Crimson Hero (both boys are kind of idiots - well, they're teens - but they make lovely tormented faces, esp. the "cheerful" blond boy when he discovers his ex-GF cheated on him, it's somehow even more powerful when someone normally genki goes through a total break-down)

Reimei no Arcana (BRILLIANT manga anyway, but what makes it better is that the guys torment themselves over the lead girl)

Blue Ramun (possibly the sweetest shoujo hero EVER, adores the hell out of the girl and is deeply troubled by his feelings for her, since he doesn't believe he should move on from loving his deceased wife, who he adored just as much)

Dengeki Daisy (another contender for the title of sweetest suffering lover-boy in shoujo!)

Deep Love Virus (idiot teenaged boys who regret their lovelorn stupidities enough to look adorkably tormented <3)

Midnight Secretary (the tortured look is zillion times more effective because it's an apparently impervious playboy that breaks down)

Enjoy!

Thanks everyone.

You're so awesome, Tartufo. XD

Yeah, I'm following Hakuji, Dengeki Daisy and Strobe Edge already.

Read Midnight Secretary a while ago. It was awesome.

I meant completely scanlated, sorry for the confusion. Ongoings make me sad in the pants, and half the time, they've not been touched in two years. The waiting sucks and you end up feeling bad for wanting to ask what's going on with it.

But yeah. *Cough* Tormented boys are wonderful. Seems rare because it's usually the girl being all "OMGAH WHAT AM I GOING TO DOOO?! *Sob sob"

Pretty much the only fond memories I have of Peach Girl come from this. Gotta shove your way to the later volumes, though. wink

[m]wait!wolf[/m] its okay at first but then it starts to get crappy, and cliched, just like all of hwang mi rhi's works. its not really pained, more like sad...

I concur. NICE TO MEET YOU. *A*

I hereby suggest Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu, in which the main male character loves the girl immensely, but refuses to tell her because he has heart disease and may die anytime. Lots of anguished emotions.

Hmm... Something that may fit a little bit is The Embalmer when it finally gets around to the romance angle.

Neither of those are finished, though... I'm sorry. ;A;

And someone already mentioned Strobe Edge, which is fabulous. ♥

Aishite Kudasai, Sensei was great. I envy that kind of passion. @_@

Kare wa Tsumetai Furi o Shite is rather good for looking at a tortured/blushing/shy tsundere boy too. I mean just look at him in that bottom left panel. XD

There's more but it's all popped out of my head right now.

EDIT: Kingyo Sou is making me so emotional right now.

okay! I'm a very sad person for asking this, ran into this post by accident and was intrigued by it. That scares me a little. Has anyone got anymore titles like the aforementioned manga above? Preferably with a not-stupid heroine, but hey, we can't necessarily all be picky! Any suggestion is fine.

Thanks!

Naisho no Princess, if you don't mind middle school characters. ^^;; It's full of shoujo tropes ("cliches"), though, so it might not be what you're looking for. While it's ongoing, the scanlators are known for their speed. smile

Savage Garden has some wonderful angst panels, too, but again, it's far from being complete.

Other than those,
W Pinch!!
Penguin Brothers

Alas, the romance was never resolved.

Still looking for agonised protagonists, huh? That's some long-lasting obsession you have there.

I'd recommend Ojousama no Untenshu by ISHIHARA Keiko. Perfect example of a male lead torn between love and duty.

Ginen Shounen by GOTOU Junpei should be okay if it's just for the boy's pained love. Otherwise pretty generic even if its execution is above average.

Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan has some good pained faces of the male character, especially near the end of the manga.

Same here for Tada, Kimi o Aishiteru .

I'd also recommend Lovely Everywhere. The male character has some very cute, pained faces.
