How about Hokuto no Ken,Violence Jack, or Toriko (SHIMABUKURO Mitsutoshi).
I am going to assume that you want the protagonist powerful from the the start.

Judging by his reading list (and the fact that's it's one of shonen jump's big three) I'd say he has.

Asu no Yoichi! - not deep or anything, more ecchi than action. But the main character does fit the requirements
Kongou Banchou - pretty standard shounen action aside from the protagonist starting out really strong and not having any annoying points
Takemitsu Zamurai - not much fighting early on, and some people are put off by the art style (I'm not personally). Later chapters the main character is shown to be very strong.
