I can easily see my request having little to no yield, but everyone's here to help, right?

So yeah, I'm looking for manga that deals with themes of interracial dating/romance. It can be any genre or demographic, as long as there is some focus on the topic.

What I'm especially looking for is conflict in the story that specifically pertains to the subject. So for example, maybe the main character's parents and/or friends are against the relationship. Or, the foreigner is treated with utter contempt and discrimination.

What I'm not really looking for is the "Oh, s/he's foreign? That's cool I guess." type of manga. I am not completely opposed to these type of suggestions, but it just wouldn't have the same feel to it.

Plus it would help if there are real ethnicities being used, and not made-up supernatural races (vampires/elves/extra-terrestrials/goddesses/etc.).

If I've made a thread in the "I'm Looking For..." forum, I am only interested in Japanese manga. I am not interested in non-Japanese media at this time.

Lady Mitsuko is the best example I can think of. It's fantastic if you don't mind the very 1970s shoujo feel.
Bronze no Tenshi counts if you consider Pushkin (who was one sixteenth African) to really be a different race. It fits your description and it's a seriously epic romance.

You can also check out the scanty offerings here.

Shipwrecked! Love it.

Edit: And if you're okay with yaoi, Under Grand Hotel has an African-American man and a Japanese man in a (pretty hardcore) relationship, Oz-style. In fact, the manga was inspired by the HBO television series, Oz, and deals at least partly with race issues and how they're (not) dealt with in jail.

You could try checking the "foreigner" tag; that might help you find what you want:

I'm not really recommending Shinjo Mayu's Make Love Shiyo!! because it's not a very good manga and the couple's interracial status wasn't really dealt with a whole lot (it is smut shoujo after all), but I found it interesting how, at the end of the manga in a freetalk, the mangaka said readers had sent in suggestions for how they would cast a movie for this series and she was dismayed that all the suggestions for Leon were Japanese actors, even though the character was supposed to be a white guy. (I think she said she'd been imagining Brad Pitt in the part.)

Though this series does deal with a made-up race, still... I have to put this out there because I love the series so much. ^^ As I read and react to what I've written... To an outsider this might seem like a crazy girlish fetish so just overlook it if you're not into girlish fantasies. >.>

The series centers around a wolf who can turn into a man during certain parts of the lunar cycle. A lovely and very appetizing young woman takes him in, and they start a platonic romance. =P A very smutty one too. I love love love this mangaka, because she creates such interesting characters. And who doesn't love a little smut in their lives? Though this mangaka takes that small want and doubles the amount of smut... =_=;

Anyways, to anyone who wants it;
Author: OHMI Tomu
Series: Kindan no Koi wo Shiyou
Zoku - Kindan no Koi wo Shiyou
Kindan no Koi de Ikou
