I'm looking for mangas that literally has harem in the background. Not the genre harem of many girls falling in love with one guy and vice versa, but triditional harem where many women are married to one man. (and vice versa...although i'd really be suprized if there was many men married to one woman....)

Something like the arabian harem, or the chinese emperor's harem, and stuff like that.
(i like thoses psycological battle in group of women trying to kill eachother trying to get higher rank in society.)
in modern society, some really rich guy having a wife, and multiple other "lovers" who all had their own children, and they all fight for inheritance...
i watches wayyy to much asian dramas.

unfortunatly, serching the word "harem" doesn't give me lot of result.....
so...i guss i'm looking for polygamy in manga...

ih yah. that's good example. (althorugh i already read it)
for most of the time it didn't really feel like harem though, becayse karl was so devoted to yuri and persued monogamy realtionship. but there was the part when the evil queen invited whole bunch of girls from famious families to live in harem so that karli can choose his bride. and that's exactly what i was looking for.

would school days count. So he's not married but the guy's nailing about half the girls in his year and they don't seem to mind. Don't think it has a manga but might still be worth looking into

^No asking for link.

Though they're not married yet, why not gives umi no misaki a try. They live together.
And from my point of view they already have a married polygamy life ever since they decide to live together.

I do know one, this guy has 7 wives. However, it is chinese and it probably is not translated. There is a drama series on this as well it may or may not be translated, if it is it's on youtube

http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=39823

the title is badly translated, if you even call that a translation. if you can understand it it's really good.

basically a poor boy gets into palace by mistake, be friends the emporer and is involved with a group of rebels and he is stuck between the two sides all the while chases his 7 wives.

Hanzou no Mon would probly fit. The harem part isn't the main focus though.

Hahahahaha. so there is a case of many men with one woman marriage. this remind me of Operation Liberate Men. Thank you, that was good.

Come to think of it, Bride of the water God might actually qualify, i mean, the old wife's stil alive and other girls who are in love with him have been living with Habeak for like...how many thousand years?

ah, hanzou no mon isn't the main theme.

I've never heard of umi no misaki before, but i'll try it out. thank you~~

Uhm actually this manga was adapted from a wuxia novels, which is a kungfu novels, this piece was written by the well known Jin Yong, its original english title was The Deer and The Cauldron and the original title was Lu Ding Ji 鹿鼎记 or Luk Ding Gei 鹿鼎記.

As far is know, based on the description on the pages of the manga both of this is the same stories, just different in format, 1 in manga and other in novels, for further information you can refer to this page :

http://wuxiapedia.com/Novels/Jin-Yong/The-Deer-and-The-Cauld ron

If you interested in reading the novels format try searching in google, there's alot of fan translation for this title especially because the writer is Jin Yong which is very famous in wuxia novels world.

Nope, there does not that many chinese drama contains the theme polygamy these days, even the old ones are pretty scarce, if there is one, it will be quite hard to dig it and or hard to find in the net and mostly are very old and the quality is old too, you can't compare it to latest drama nowadays, and this titles are rarely reproduced, unlike some Chinese Kung Fu drama series which are quite popular and constantly remaked.

The titles that i can remember had some polygamy themes in it are :

The Deer and The Cauldron, a.k.a Lu Ding Ji 鹿鼎记, a.k.a, Luk Ding Gei 鹿鼎記, a.k.a Duke of Mount Deer (DOMD), it was quite popular in asia region, especially in China mainland, HK, Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Chu Liu Xiang series by Gu Long, the dramas also existed and quite the same like the above.

There's more i'm sure but my brain ceased to function right now, as for manga i've never found any.

well, i like this topic because one of my most favorite drama is The Ladies of the Palace.
http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Ladies_of_the_Palace

And Nan-jung was such a tragic villian protagonist. I just loved her. She's so clever and stop at nothing, but so empty, as if she's trying to raise herself using foam. (I'm glad i wasn't born in ancient times).

But why is this topic not adressed in manga? because it's too serious? too cliche? because if you look at asian history and old (like, hundreads of years old) novels, this is all they write about.
