Pahanjip is good. Mix of everything thrown into history. Worth your while.
D.Gray-man is supposed to be historical... It takes place in 19th century world, although there isn't much of history there. But still, it's very good :]

Check those:
Kakan no madonna
Samurai Executioner
Legend of Nereid
Basilisk <- not exactly historical, but worth giving it a try
and I second Bokko

How about Vagabond? I really suggest you should read it.. Plus it has over 20 volumes.. eek

So, that's a lot of reading pleasure, if you are just starting to read it.. smile

And Dangu/Shaman Warrior is also great, if you liked Vagabond, you'll definitely like this too.. eyes Although, it still only has 5 volumes or so..

And I second Indreju with Basilisk.. It's really worthwile to read..
