Wah, "epic romance" isn't a ton to go off of, but I'll see what I can find.

I'm assuming you mean something like, innocent romance that really does seem like true love, but the couple is still struggling to overcome some serious tensions (either from supernatural means, or dark backstories, or etc)?

What I can think of is:
Kanata Kara <--love it
Kare Kano <--maybe? meh.
Or something in the magical-girl genre, though you have to be careful with those because they can get kind of annoying. Possibly
Pretear
Princess Tutu <--a bit far-fetched, but I think it would work. Be sure you see the anime, only, if you're interested. I also love this one

When I think of 'Epic romance', Basara, 7 seeds and Princess came into my mind. No other romance mangas are as 'epic' as them. I may be bias on this, but really, they're that awesome.
