To start this off i want to mention one clear condition. Absolutely NO manga with a weapon that takes human shape. The farthest it should be is an ethereal form like depore in immortal regis. i do not want it to be able to take human form making it vulnerable to attacks. Second condition is that i want it to be of an opposite gender to its weilder. Aside from this everything else, aside from yaoi, goes. Though romance is a major plus.

sorry I can only think of Kurogane, they have different gender though, or rather, species.

Would Shaman King work? The kids in that series put ghosts into their weapons to fight. The ghosts are ethereal beings but the weapons are just weapons.

thought personification worked for this due to giving the weapon human characteristics(speech and consciousness) :/. anyway thanks for the recs. i will start reading(and maybe watching) immediately.

i have a few times in the past, but there arent any tags for most of the specifications i wanted this time so its unlikely i would be able to narrow down the list enough. Also doing it this way makes it more likely the story doesnt totally suck
