I really like the relationship that Lelouche and CC has in Code Geass. I was wondering if there's something similar, but more leaning towards romance Lelouche has his own harem going and he doesn't end up with her. So basically, she has to be strong, it doesn't really matter if she's physically or mentally, either one is fine, I just them to have a relationship where they really respect each other and he has a dependence on her that he normally won't have with anyone else... I hope I am making sense.
So in a nutshell:
- romance where the hero and heroine has mutual respect for each other, it'd be even better if he relies on her more than anyone else.
- romance can be sub-plot rather than the main story
- no harems
- don't really mind what genre it is as long as it's not yaoi/yuri/hentai

The breaker: new waves has that sort of thing. Cos there's a harem for the main character with a lot of strong females with mutual respect and stuff, though leaning towards one sided romances on the girl's parts.

Shin angyo onshi also has that between the two mains.

Liar game maybe? haven't read all of it but at the point I was at it wasn't a romantic relationship between the two mains...though it takes a while for the female mc to become strong.

Also I think the main two in Shingeki no kyojin sort of have that relationship, though its closer to a brother/sister relationship in places.

Sengoku strays sort of has that as well. A strong female lead that protects the warlord type of thing.

uh, not too sure about manga, but for anime the first thing that comes to mind about relationship like C.C. and Lelouch's is Sword Art Online Kirito & Asuma, but even more than that Guilty Crown Shu & Inori

as for manga...uh maaaybe Rolan the Forgotten King but now can't decide whether it's Rolan & Etoile or Shion...probably Etoile...

Thanks for the suggestions. I've read Chrno Crusade, Horimiya (SO CUTE), Keishichou Tokuhanka 007, Shin Angyo Onshi, Liar Game (not the biggest fan tbh) and Spice and Wolf. I just remembered that Hellsing is kinda like that too. It'd be nice to get some more suggestions, but I'll definitely check the others out.

There is also Crest of the Stars. But for that I advise to either read the novel Crest of the Stars (novel) or watch the anime, their relationship in season 3 is extremely well developed.
