She is considered unpopular/plain/ordinary/average, especially compared to her beautiful perfect friend

She can be the love interest or the protagonist in the story

She is not obsessed with finding a boyfriend/romance

She doesn't care too much about appearance

IF she ends up with 'the popular guy (doesn't have to) : She cannot be in love with 'the popular' guy at the very beginning or too soon, like most cliche shoujo heroines

No large age gaps, like teacher-student relationships ; they must be around the same age

I'd prefer if the male lead is at first in love with the female lead's beautiful pretty friend at first, but then ends up falling for the female lead
