Stories that have truly nonhuman characters for protags always seem to be hard to find. They always end up being human in one form or another...
The best I can think of is this short oneshot Slice of Black Chocolate
It is a really good oneshot
If you like anime too, then you could give Wolf's Rain a shot, they have that human feel tho.
