Are there any manga, I guess slice of life, where a guy either looses all his money, or throws it away, or just drops everything in his life, and takes the next random train out of town and meets all sorts of weird wonderful people and places?

Yes, I need it to be a guy, looking to be inspired here biggrin

I guess Arakawa under the bridge somewhat fits, however I'd rather have something with less random humor.

This happens in Hachimitsu to Clover - the protagonist
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
starts randomly biking and ends up going all the way to the tip of Japan. He doesn't throw his money away, but runs out of money on the trip, and ends up doing an interesting job.
There's much more to the story than this though, so it might not be the right choice for you.

I don't know whether you're looking more for manga or more for inspiration, but there are lots of sources in other mediums. The book 'Into the Wild' (the bible for travellers everywhere) is exactly what you're looking for. For myself, the documentary 'On the Trail of Genghis Khan' was also very inspiring. I've hitchhiked across Canada, walked from Mexico to Utah, slept on benches in Europe, and had lots of other random adventures.

As mentioned above there is an arc in Honey & Clover that is exactly what you are looking for. It's one of my all time favorite series, and probably my favorite anime ever.

While it's not exactly what you describe you might enjoy Uchuu Kyoudai. The MC loses his job and decides to pursue his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut. It's pretty inspiring.

Thanks guys.

Will try Honey and Clover, however that love polygon tag looks annoying, i hate relationship drama bigrazz anyways, will read a chapter and see where it goes.

Honey and Clover seconded but... The MC's travel/adventure is a bit anecdotic and happens late in the story, and yeah if you don't like romantic drama then it's probably not the best for you. Still it's a very good read IMO.

Other than that :

Hatsukoi Shinjuu The male MC is pulled in abandoning everything by his teacher/possible love interest, but it follows what you want. They leave their town and meet weird people, and try to enyoy an adventure. It's relatively recent but is interesting.

Kenji Maybe not exactly what you want but it kinda fits too. It's a shounen focusing on martial arts. The MC at some point starts to travel to China.

Thanks!

Read a few chapters of Kenji, like it so far, not what I was looking for though.

As for Hatsukoi Shinjuu, i don't think I want to read about a guy who wants to kill himself.

This isn't manga (sorry) but the movie that came out about a year ago "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" is perfect, especially for inspiration.

Ending aside, is a very good manga, and I would call it somewhat inspirational
