Before I begin this topic. Can you please understand that it is someones opinion and we should respect it.

With that said.. What is the most overhyped manga a
nd/or anime you have seen.
In my opinion the most disappointing thing I have read is Kimi no iru machi. I read 250 chapters if awesomeness just so that he can fuck up the last 10 chapters and the ending. Like what the actual fuck....
And most overhyped anime is (and I know a lot of people will hate me) clannad after story. Cause thatseries got me soooooooo fucking depressed

Excuse my language but that is how I truly feel. Post what u guys think.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei all three media. LN, manga and the anime.

Cool premise, great world building, awesome magic system, with... one dimension cast of characters (except the MC), and one of the worst storytelling from a highly rated series, well this and LMS.

To be fair, LMS had a crappy world building and unbalance system on top of abysmal storytelling, so, Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei is better by a long mile.

But still, what a shame.

The second half of Kill la Kill. Psycho Pass(the dumbest investigators ever) are recent ones. Not "bad" just way under delivered. Wolf Children is only alright.
Messy sequels series like Code Geass R2(great as a comedy), Eureka Seven Ao, Gundam ZZ, Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor and Evangelion 3.33.
The list is there is long. Anime sequell are often problematic. And now adaptations. Planets the anime is dumb love dodecahedron at time but the manga thou is hard sci-fi at it´s fines with a romance that actual works. And the king of all kings the new Bersek movies. What a mess dead.

Tower of God. Started out good with a cool premises and hope of excellent world building (there is no unique world buliding as people often claims for the series). The tests/games in the first season were really well exceuted which helped me surpass my hatred for the generic protagonist.

But then from Second Season author got too drunk on the popularity and started milking his series. Milking his series or maybe author ran out of ideas. He just continued to add fodder characters and started wasting chapters on them, and his main character never had any character development even though author tried to hype that he has changed into anti-hero short... but that was just bad writing: Main character continues to be the standard moronic hero with 0IQ.
The tests/games started getting repetitive & boring plus not to mention most of them served no purpose either to story or character development. The Workshop arc killed what little substance ToG had left.

The most disappointing (but not really overhyped) would be Double Arts. I think it's very good and I liked it a lot, but apparently the Japanese didn't, because it got axed after three volumes. The author managed to put together an ending that sort of makes sense, but I was still very disappointed, it could have been a great manga.

And when it comes to "everyone loves it but me" manga, then One Piece. I heard a lot of praise about this manga, but I when I finally read it, I was disappointed. I disliked the cartoonish art and chaotic plot and the humour was not the kind I like. I guess it just isn't a manga for me.

Similar-ish, but not the same. The first one was about the worst manga. That title belong the piece of garbage that would actually make the world even more miserable than it already is.

The second one, is about overrated manga. Same-ish. One, because it was only manga, not manga/anime or other media maybe. Two because it was about overrated manga, other people rated it, not us. Disappointing is when we actually read something, trust the author to make something awesome out of the premise, but then somehow along the line, the author screw that up. Kinda like Mel Gibson.
