Best Foreign Movies : I dont like to rely the source from the official sites, or public polls because the people who chooses the best ones arent really the best ones for people our standards, due to the fact alot of old people are mixed in the influence of the classics or their own mood pleasure... so i just want information from people who can share who think have watched the best foreign movies

Chinese
--------------
The Eye ( chinese version ) : girl who got an eye transplant, and start seeing weird ghost visions... shitload of weird pop-ups

Japanese
---------------
Ichi the Killer : Some weird yakuza gang leader with weird cuts on his face, and some guy who is brainwashed to kill people.... movie is basically of some weird fetish related scenes, with crazy bloodbath theme

Shinobi : 2 different ninja clans have to confront each other to prove their superior strength and for the honor of their village... each village has chosen their 5 strongest warriors, and must fight to the death and the last one standing are the winners.... basically about these shinobis with weird powers.

Versus : samurais, yakuzas, cops, zombies, vampires, demons, and assasins going at each other... kinda random story, but pretty exciting to watch...

Battle Royale : bunch of high school kids forcefully taken by the governments to an island to fight amonst themselves to the death.... very thrilling, suspenseful, and disturbing....

German
-------------
The Downfall : takes place somewhere in the world war II times, focused on Hitler himself right before he kills himself... pretty dramatic and sad to watch the number of tragedys that befalls on familys

Thai
--------
Shutter : Some Photographer and his lover drinks with their friends, and on the way home driving drunk, they accidently run over a girl walking home and gets shaken by the fact they took a life of another human being. being afraid to go to jail, they decide to run for it and swears to one another to keep quiet about it... after time passes, they encounter supernatural phenomenons occuring towards them..... this movie is mad freaky, by far the scariest movie i've seen, perfectly done in terms of the intro and of how they wraped it up

Korean
------------
200-Pounded Beauty : a girl who is a singer with a beautiful voice, talent, charming personality, and with a great inner beauty than anyone else.. problem is she is a great turn-down for any guys with a underaverage face and a fat body... her job is of lip-syncing for another women who is an opposite of a beautiful face, body, and great public image, but with no talent of singing whatsoever, and an arrogant and self-centered personality. her dream is to be lovers with her manager, which she knows she cant be with due to her outer appearance.... one day she decides to have a plastic surgery on her face and another surgery for her to lose weight... the story is set upon her starting over and leave her past behind to achieve her dreams.

Wishing Stairs : stairs with 39 steps , but during a late night, if you walk up the stairs with your eyes closed, and on your last step, mysteriously you will feel an extra step of the 40th step, and you can make a wish to come true... a movie with murder, ghosts, and other supernatural cases.... one of those freakyass long black hair with a white dress semera-type movies.

It's a Korean movie, but, MAAAN.
That was amazing. ;-;
It's a love story, and it makes you cry an ocean, but it's totally worth watching.

Warn: Banned

Brazilian: City of God[Cidade de Deus]

A very sad, comical, satirical, depressing, yet realistic movie about the underworld in Brazilian streets through the eyes of the main character.

I agree. Shinobi is a really good movie. It's really beautiful and the way they take the picture is eyes great

also, Japanese movie:
Be With You
Genre: family drama
The heroine promises her son if she's going to go back on one summer before she's dead (and she did)! shy it's kinda of strange at first, for some people (not for me) but once you understand the story,... it's so sad yet beautiful at the same time. You'll probably do not know what I'm talking about but you gotta see it yourself and you'll understand. I highly recommend this movie.
By far, this is my "most" favorite movie with Pride and Prejudice (this one is a Holywood movie tho) laugh

I heard that Shutter is really creepy so I skip that one. I don't have the guts to watch it. And I believe Asian horror movies especially Thai movies are like.... dead a lot scarier than Holywood movie. I'll wait for a friend who wants to watch this movie with me. I cannot watch this movie alone biggrin

You know, I actually found this move rather boring. Perhaps that was just me personally... but it just seemed to try to imitate japanese horror and just kinda fell flat.

Pan's Labyrinth - a nice fairy tale by Guillermo del Toro

This movie is amazing, and I can't recommend it enough. It did get a limited release in america, so I got to see it in theaters. Its a very dark, bloody, fairy tale. Truly creepy and very heavily themed.

I'll throw in a couple:
Japanese
Shuji Iwai is a great Japanese director, both of these are done by him:
Love Letter - Probably my favorite of his works. Its about a widow, who, to settle her depression ends up sending a letter to her dead husbands elementary school address. And then a little while later gets a response. It ends up she accidentally sent it to the address of a girl who had the same name and was in the same class as her dead husband. And through their correspondence, they both end up learning a lot about themselves.

Hana and Alice - This one is a hard one to describe. Its basically about two girls that are best friends. But one of them ends up taking a liking to stalking this one boy. And after the boy hits his head and gets knocked unconscious, convinces him that he has amnesia and that she is his girlfriend. And its about the interaction of the two girls and their friendship as they try to keep alive this series of lies and misunderstandings.

Korean:
Korea has really an offbeat sense of humor in some of their works.
Attack the Gas Station - This was the first korean movie I saw. Back when korean movies were just starting to become popular. Its really weird, but rather humorous. About a group of kids that rob a gas station. And then, get the idea to rob it again. But through a series of mishaps they end up taking in more and more hostages and then forcing the hostages to do silly things. And eventually just being in over their head.

Aachi and Ssipak - Ok, so this is cheating a little bit. Its an animated movie. But its hilarious and has some great action scenes in it. Its not for the timid though. It takes place in the future where the only source of energy is human excrement. The government rewards you with high addictive "Juicy Bars" for your poo (basically cocaine bars). IT follows a couple hoodlums and a porn actress whos poo produces exorbiant amounts of juicy bars as they run from a cyborg cop and the mutant "Diaper Gang".
