Feel Good Factor.
by Padawan

Rating: 10.0  / 10.0
Likeable, smart male lead with a good heart and studies hard as to not repeat his past life's mistakes.
About second chances, forgiveness, magic and fantasy.
The good feels is plenty in this one. Also, many a good life lessons.

May try the light novel one day.

EDIT: I've started reading the LN a few hours ago - AND I LOVE IT.
Its like it has 100x more content and depth than the manga.
Wow. Go read the LN people. Or perhaps after trying out the manga to help with your imagination once you read the LN later.

Masterpiece in the works

The light novel is a once in a generation master piece, hopefully the manga won't disappoint.
Very promising story filled with romance, adventure, plot twists and friendships.
Be patient with the first volumes, the story will get much better.

For those that complain that stuff in the novel are left out the beginning chapters, you need to understand that its very difficult for a light novel to transition into manga.
There are only so many pages you're allowed every chapter, and if the manga doesn't get traction the project will get axed. They Have to write with the intent of capturing a new fan base.. And sometimes that means skipping out side plots and details. The novel is there for those that want those details, the manga is there for those that want the visuals.

Please be patient and support it, don't let this amazing story get axed like mx0 did.
It would be a great tragedy.

A Really Enjoyable Read
by great_k

This may be a genre that is becoming a standard plot line, but the fact that it stays away from the stereotypical under-powered main character who is always getting beaten up and winning in one move and who's main existence is too protect the main female character, makes this a more enjoyable read compared to 99% of manga these days that follow the typical shounen formula.

Rudeus has great talent, is always looking to progress and is a great strategist. A mix we just don't see much of in manga these days. Honestly I love seeing him "charm" other characters and the interactions with friends and family is just too cute.

Luckily I am not a reader of LNs so I have no complaints over the manga.

Read the light novel instead

Unfortunately this manga adaptation had so much potential but chose to rush everything. It loses all of the wonderful character interactions and plot details that the light novel has. The nail in the coffin for me is that even the light novel illustrations are better.

Only read this if you already read the light/web novel. Otherwise you're missing all the good stuff.

Much of the deliciousness was lost

If you read the novel, there are so many behind the scenes episodes left out. It is a shame, the story progress is also too fast, with one chapter it covered half of the first volume of the novel. Lots of things unexplained etc. It could be better

awesome but has flaws

I've read the novel and yeah, cy316's comment was right. There were so many parts that were left out that could have made the manga better and way lot "Funnier", and that's a big let down.
But inspite of that I'd still give this one an 8 FOR NOW. The art's great and the story didn't get out of track despite of the cuts made.
The expression's great as well it's just the way i imagined it when i was reading the novel. Hopefully this progress for the better on the next chapters and I really wish sensei would stop omitting "too many" scenes smile .

Edit: For those who haven't read the novel, the story's great, dont hesitate to keep track on this one biggrin , much recommended.

A good coming-of-age isekai that doesn't ignore social stigmas
by HSuke

Rating: 9.0  / 10.0
I've got to admit that I didn't like this manga for the first 20 or so chapters. It seemed kind of bland and really, really slow for an action-fantasy Isekai story. But it wasn't until watching Gigguk's review of the anime that I realized I was looking at it superficially.

This is actually a COMING OF AGE story, not an action-fantasy. It's about a guy who still carries the stigmas and damage from his previous life to his new one. It's about getting a second chance at life. The bonds between the characters (like in the less-serious Fairy Tale) are what drive the story. In fact, almost all of the story is there simply to drive character development, and that's what I didn't realize for the first 20 chapters.

Most Isekais these days barely cover the past life in a meaningful way, but this one keeps coming back to it.

Too fast

The manga loses a lot of what made the light novel great and progresses way too fast, it's been leaving out a lot of scenes in the first 5 chapters and we're already halfway through the first chapter, not bad but the light novel is just so much better

A Miserable Lump Gets A Second Chance
by GaffJuran
February 9th, 2020, 11:17pm
Rating: 6.0  / 10.0
Once again an ordinary Japanese citizen is sent to another world to have a new life and pick up a harem. The hook is that the protagonist is an absolutely disgusting pig, a depressing NEET, that is to say a miserable shut in with no friends and no life who is kicked out onto the street by what I assume is his family. One fateful meeting with a runaway truck and he's reborn as a baby in a world of swords and sorcery, and has a chance to rebuild himself and his life from the ground up. The series follows his life from the age of five to adulthood, as he gets mixed up with all kinds of adventures and characters throughout.

The main character Rudeus is pretty much a pervert and a scumbag in a cute kid wrapper, and the series never lets you forget it, so he's pretty unlikable. On the other hand, I do appreciate his self awareness, that he knows his old life was mostly his own fault. I also really respect that he's chosen to make something of his new life through hard work more than the knowledge or wisdom he happened to bring with him from his old life [although that also helps him a great deal, enough that everyone mistakes him for a child prodigy]. For me, that helps balance out his less attractive traits. As the series goes on, Rudeus wants to be a BETTER man, not just a happier one. I'm not far enough in to know if he succeeds, but here's hoping.

If you can overlook his tendency to sexualize almost every female he meets, which you probably can if you're into anime, then it's bearable. There's enough else going on that I wanted to know where it's all going.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Reading the light novel I got really angry at the perv...khm... protagonist. But, if the manga stays true to the course and scale of the novel it's gonna be big. I am sticking around to see the places, people, and battles, but it's too bad that later on it's difficult to see Rudeus as cool, like in the first chapters.
