This is right up there with junjou romantica - positively awesome.
It has just what I like in a manga. They don't fall to quickly in love, the story is very entertaining and the characters likeable.
The only thing that could go wrong now is if the mangaka drags it on for too long, makes a terrible ending or has one of the characters cheat on the other cuz I hate that.
It is getting to be rather annoying that Souchi is shouting 3/4 of the time. Think he needs to chill out.
Overall give it a read. I only make comments on awesome or awful manga so it's a guaranteed good one.
* returning after it is completed. I am having to change my rating. I had been waiting for weeks and weeks for a new update until I realised that the last chapter I read was in fact the last chapter. Suffice to say it was disappointing. Yeah the relationship was sorta finalised, but there were so many other things I wanted to see, like the family finding out and things like that.
Just another chapter or three would have been perfect.
Why do mangaka always fail at the last hurdle?!

Story - 7.8
Art - 10
Characters - 8.8
The story is intertening. The mangaka could make it more original and less repetitive but other then that it's really good and can make us fixed our eyes on the screen for a while.
I have nothing to say about the art. All the people have their taste. I like it but that's my opinion...
I found most of the TAKANAGA Hinako characters on other mangas less interestings then this one. Impressive, non clichée (strong yuke, interesting semen) and hooked are same adjective that I think names The Tyrant Who Fall in Love. The only critic I have about them is the sex, almost like rape. The semen insists to find excuses to "rape" the yuke.
If you don't like mangas like that please don't read it but if you don't find this disturbing and if you like good development characters this is the manga for you.

I adore Tyrant to death. There's something about their funny yet amazingly endearing relationship that I love. Souichi is always in denial and he really is extremely shy. He's also very naive, when you think about how many excuses he makes up. I mean, he admittedly worries about and misses Morinaga and then denies that he likes him even to himself! It's so cute. And Morinaga is easy to sympathize with and understand. I can't wait for more. =] Their relationship moves on at a progressive and even pace, for Souichi slowly acts more and more like he's accepting Morinaga and their partnership. I do like Takanaga's other works, but not nearly as much as I like this one. It's different I suppose, because Souichi is so spiky most of the time and yet so caring (in his own way) on rare occasions when Morinaga gets hurt or feels really upset about something. It is rare that you find such a great yaoi manga that has over one or two volumes, and this is definitely something any yaoi or BL fan should check out. ^^

I can't understand why there are 7 votes above in the rank +1?
Are they crazy or they just don't understand the manga.
It's one of the best manga I've ever read.
feel sorry for Morinaga-kun, hix, but he really knows when should attack sempai.
I really can't imagine how sempai's face looks like when he must admit he loves Morinaga.

According to MU, I've been reading this since 2007, so it's one of my first yaoi manga, more or less and I've been following this for almost 9 years... And let me tell you one thing... I don't have enough shits to give.
It's still pretty to look at and the sex is sorta hot, when it's not cut in the middle but damn, just let this relationship finally develop somewhere instead of treading water.
Enough is enough. You can't just endlessly walk the characters and us in circles.

I mean, I still like it. The start was fun, despite this rather mellow rape.
After years and years of torture for senpai to finally admit he has feelings towards Morinaga, he sort of kind of does... and then the manga goes into volume 9 (or 10?) and their relationship goes back to the "don't you fucking touch, you creep". For fuck's sake. Seriously? Sempai's volatile temper has its appeal, but damn it, at least let him show SOME affection. It's like he hates being near Morigana one moment, and then the next he wants him. But barely. This is really tiring. And fuck your tsundere claims. This is just over the top.

So, this manga is definitely a gem, and it's very popular for a reason. If you're able to get past the first volume, you're in for a ride. It's basically a manga about at toxic relationship where boundaries are crossed, verbal abuse, communication problems and more. Its not your typical yaoi where its kiss kiss fall in love. It's a slow romance.
Basically, the manga shows a lot of toxicity between the couple, which are real life issues, compared to other yaoi's where its like "oh r***, well i love you now."
Over the course of 20 years, the manga has developed amazingly, and the characters just blossom into these amazing people. Lots of comedy too, its hilarious. And also serious drama, and it highlights serious issues that are present in real life relationships. The characters learn about communication, learn about their wrongs, and learn about their problems. Also, some characters have traumatic pasts, and talks about homophobia and how they have fallen victims to it.
There are censored sex scenes, however, minimally censored. I will say, my favorite thing about this manga is that the sex scenes aren't gross. They feel romantic. They aren't hentai-esque, but still hot at the same time.
I WILL say, however, as much as I love this manga and its a solid 1000/10, the 2nd chapter of the first volume /is/ a tough read, and it is dub-con until i'd say maybe volume 4, maybe 3, depending on the scene.
In short, if you read this, expect just a toxic relationship between initial friends to lovers, one sided love, and a tsundere who can't admit that he really is in love with this guy, because he was never taught to express his feelings, and feels awkward around romance. Expect the most sweetest, sappiest, cutest scenes, and expect to see a total raging asshole turn into a soft and shy person, yet still holding his boundaries. Expect to laugh too! This series has me cracking up constantly.

At first, I found it really funny, but every volume repeats the exact same scheme. Tatsumi is so damn dumb, even though he's a genius. Simultaneously, Morinaga keeps crossing Tatsumi's boundaries, makes promises and breaks them right after. And Tatsumi keeps using violence against Morinaga. It used to be funny, but now I'd love to see in 13th volume that Tatsumi finally stops acting like a victim of sexual abuse, since he loves Morinaga and want things Morinaga does to him. And Morinaga really respects Tatsumi's boundaries since he loves Tatsumi... That would be great if after really harsh beginning of the relationship, they finally understood each other and well GREW UP as both people and couple

As many others pointed out, this series gets problematic as it gets longer.
When I first read it, I loved it, especially for the beautiful graphisms from Takanaga-sensei (I really loved Challengers and Little Butterfly), I gave it a 9, even.
But I as re-read it recently and got up to date, I cringe as Morinaga is actually a dangerous predatory bully who stops at nothing to rape Souichi, dismissing explicit 'no', blackmail, etc.
As this story drags on without any sign of Morinaga making amends, I feel like vomiting.

I can understand why Moringa wants to be with Souichi a lot...Thats what you get when your uke looks like he hates you the %99 of the story. The most annoying thing is, Souichi acts like an oh-so-lovely-uke a few times during the story, and continues to be the demon afterwards. Sometimes Souichi treating Morinaga bad in a "comical" way isnt funny...I wouldnt call what Morinaga does "rape", since he was convinced that Souichi wanted him, and he was prideful, so Souichi just needed a reason:blackmail. I dont think Morinaga is at fault for anything.
