Junjou Romantica: Takahashi Misaki is suddenly having some unexpected and odd problems. What started as a need for some college entrance exam tutoring has somehow led him to being romanced by a suave older man who also happens to be his big brother’s best friend. Confused by all of his brand new emotions, Misaki struggles to deal with his suddenly very odd life. And if that wasn’t enough, his suitor, Usami Akihiko, has plenty of issues of his own. A man-child who decorates his room in giant teddy bears and toys, Usami is a famous novelist who also writes steamy boys’ love novels on the side. When Misaki cracks open one of these books and reads sentences like “Usami licks every inch of Misaki’s hot body”…well, let’s just say that all hell breaks loose. Plus it doesn't help with Usami claiming he's in love with him.
Junjou Egoist: Kamijou Hiroki is a broken man, consumed by unrequited love for his childhood friend, Usami Akihiko (the writer from Junjou Romantica). Along comes Kusama Nowaki, whose name "Nowaki" means "typhoon", an orphan working his way through life since middle school. Like the typhoon he is named for, he whirls into Hiroki's life and heart, blowing all resistance away before him.
Junjou Terrorist: As fate would have it, Miyagi Yoh (whom Hiroki is working with as assistant professor) and Takatsuki Shinobu, a high school student, cross paths. Bits of pieces start to link together from the first two stories. That aside, Miyagi, who has a sad hidden past in himself involving a relationship with his teacher, is faced with Shinobu, who just says whatever is on his mind. This series is absolutely awful. It is cliched, unfunny, bad art. The artist can't even keep the characters looking the same and tries to make up for their lack of skill by giving them constantly "LOL SURPRISE" or "OOH I'M SO ANGWY" looks, thinking that might cover it up. The plot might seem interesting at first, but the artist decides to totally scrap that for other random stories that should be stand alone or sequels, not side stories that repeat in almost every single volume, at some points getting more pages than the main story.
I couldn't even finish this one, which I usually do just so I can give it a full chance. This didn't even merit it. Do yourself a favor and skip this one for some good yaoi instead. This story should only appeal to those with the mindset of a sheltered young teenager.

This was the first manga I ever tried that was yaoi based, and let me say, I absolutely loved it. I actually started watching the anime first, but I'm reading the manga as well. It's drmatic, funny, and there's a ton of romance. My favorite pairing would have to be Misaki and Akihiko, but the others are fun to read too!

I feel like I must be missing something because everyone seems to love this so much but I can't really see anything special about it. I'm not fond of the art very sketchy style and the story is just so-so. It feel like sometimes they're being dramatic for the sake of being dramatic. For something that goes on for so long I'd just hope it would have a more complex story. I've only read the first two manga's maybe in the future I will read the rest and come to love it more, but for now I just don't have the patience or the money!

I have to say, before reading this, yaoi has never been my thing, but this series changed my view completely! I loved every single moment of it! It's extremely cute and charming! =D

I really loved the story about Hiro and Nowaki. Especially the chapters about Nowaki suddenly disapperaring for a year. The emotions and tension in the scenes built up really well. This is my favorite story among the series and they are my favorite couple. Too bad, though, that their recent chapters have been slow. Maybe the author doesn't have anything to add between them anymore. They are practically living in a happy ending.

at first.. i think.. yaoi is disgusting.. yuck!! boy with boy.. oh no.. please so many pretty girl in this world.. why must with boy?! but after i read this manga.. i really shocked.. because i think the story is really sweet.. more sweet than story boy with girl... and so funny.. make me laughed..(but sometime i usually think why there are gay couple?! what makes it?! but whatever!!) this manga make me fall in love with one of it character, Miyagi. So i 'm being like this manga really. my fave story is junjou terrorist, my fave chara is Miyagi, my fave couple is miyagi x shinobu, and the cutest character i think is Shinobu. this manga(especially junjou terrorist) really make me to feel everything happened in this manga and make my heart tremble, smiling, crying, etc. yeah.. after read this manga make me like yaoi manga.. but my fave yaoi manga will always junjo romantica.. i like reading this manga again and again i never feel bored..

I wouldn't say the art was BAD, per se, it's just very stylized. I can understand how some people might not like it, though, since it's quite rough compared to the cleaner art in the anime. It's definitely an acquired taste.
I love this series because I think the writing and development is great, particularly for the Junjou Egoist couple. I love their relationship because it's both believable and complex -- both Hiroki and Nowaki have their flaws and strengths, but they're so in tune with each other that words aren't even necessary to convey the love that's there. Hope to read more of Egoist!

Even if the art is a little bad, it makes my heart thump and ache. D:
It makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time, which usually doesnt work for most shoujo mangas. I love all the stories, but I especially like Nowaki and Misaki. I LOVE YOU NAKAMURA-SENSEI !

I stopped reading, I remembered being somewhat obsessed with it but I gave it another try and just couldn't bring myself to finish it anymore. Storyline and artistic ability is quite poor, so poor that I think an 8yr old can come up with something better. Characters are very stiff, like stick people but with shapes to differentiate them from being stick people. I understand we are following three couples and I have to say that Junjou Egoist isn't my favorite couple at all, but I'm fine with the other two. Intimacy shown is rather corny and cheap, very typical shoujo junk; I would rather just stick to legit shoujo if I wanted cheesy romance.

When I think of the yaoi genre I think of junjou romantica (& egoist & terrorist) it is a comedic heart warming yaoi that makes you feel warm and fuzzy.....it's not something serious it is basically everyday life and events told in such a way to not only capture the readers attention but keep it going through out the whole series. The characters are all likeable I LOVE the main characters in egoist. To me it is unmistakably one of the best manga out there. I give my props to the mangaka and really hope that I may see more of her work and possibly a junjou romantica season 3.
