What can I say? I'm a sucker for this kind of series. Atfer watchibg the first OVA i love it. It's confusing with the zooanimals thing but regardless I still love it. What even more fun is that this author took one step further then from any yaoi that has gone before in history...At least what I had anyway. And that my friend is babies. I love that males can actaully have a kid in this series for I wish for one particular couple would have one allready. Dispite that this title is called sex pistols i don't really see many sex scenes in this story but I even if it didn't i would still love it.
There are many characters and many funny scenes in this manga that i think you'll enjoy. Plus there are many couples and many sides stories of different ways of falling in love. So i do recommend it if ur not trying to make scene of everything. Just go with the flow and enjoy this series.

I'm not quite sure just yet what I think of this manga. One thing that is annoying me most is that it's soo confusing! Sometimes I find I don't quite know what's going on and who's who.
But the stories are really entertaining and I love how wierd yet sexy it is.
I love all the different characters and their respective relationships.
Thing is, some stories are more interesting than others and right now I really want to know what happens between Norio and Kunimasa (have I got that right? Get lost with all the names) but there's been a succession of chapters on Shinobu and the mermaid guy that are really boring me.
Spose that's the problem with long ongoing mangas like this.
Overall though it's unique, enjoyable and I would recommend it.

Not to be taken seriously

This is one of my favourite series simply because its so random and funny. Its not a manga to be taken seriously, and not one to carry expectations over. If you do either you'll be disapointed. First of all, its amusing - its meant to be, the whole theme is not meant to be taken too seriously, its light and fluffy in its presentation which gives you the hint that the subject matter should be taken the same way. Its also, as expected, perverted xD but in a funny sense. I also like how it explores the relationships between multiple characters rather than simply focusing one single pair.
Theres also the nice variety in that we get to see a number of settings and a number of different points of view. As for the art, its sort of average, not my favourite style in the world but i find it gets better gradually throughout the series. I do, however, appreciate that most of the men in the series are masculine (one major complaint against any yaoi themed manga is men who look like women).
In general, you'll enjoy this is your looking for a bit of fun and an animalistic theme. If your looking for a serious romance or drama look else where (this series has elements of both but in the same non-serious manner as the rest of the story shows).

i'm not particularly impressed. firstly, while i was eagerly anticipating the animal shifter theme, there isn't enough done with it; despite the clumsy infodump at the start it seems mostly to be a gimmick. secondly, the male pregnancy bit is seriously getting on my nerves by volume 4; it comes complete with sex organs changing into female ones. if i wanted to see that sort of thing, i'd be reading hentai, ok? there is just too damn much of it; nearly everyone is having babies, and those who're not, are talking about having babies -- which is another thing that bugs me. i don't really want to have a lot of babies in my BL either; babies are the complete opposite to "sexy" for me.
compared to those issues, the art isn't a big problem. it started out striking me as fairly unattractive, but it gets better; except for the hands which stay spidery-ugly the whole time. the animal art is good right from the start; kunimasa's jaguar form is beautiful, and norio's alter is cute.
storywise, i don't know why everybody thinks it's so original. it's just done on a somewhat larger scale than the typical BL manga, with everyone being connected to everyone else in some way -- which is what makes it a soap. and it seems to me quite typical soap: lots of trumped up misunderstandings, hurt feelings, denied feelings, seemingly unreciprocated love, love triangles, plus the occasional sheikh thrown in for exotic appeal (ok, so it's original that his name is "seth" and that he's blond, *snrk*) -- and hey, we have some men who look completely like women, so it really is no different from a hetero soap. the animal gimmick is used as a stand-in for social differences between people. instead of manual labourers, here bats are looked down on. instead of romeo and juliet from feuding families, we get a snake and a mongoose who're "natural enemies". it's also very standard BL in its seme/uke power dynamics, and doesn't break from those; heck, it feminises some of the uke more than most BL; it's all "my wife" and "my husband" stuff. which really, really, really bugs me. girly crybaby uke are bad enough, but turning men into actual women should be a no-no for BL.
while it doesn't strike me as amazingly original, as a soap it is quite well done, with decent plotting and resolution of problems not dragged out forever. and because the characters are all connected and reappear throughout the volumes, it's easy enough to invest emotions in some of them.

As everyone had mention, this manga is totally different from the usual yaoi manga that you read. The 1st thing that went into my mind when I was started to read it is that this mangaka definitely genius and awesome to produce the idea about human and animal! eventhough the idea is awesome but sometime it makes me confuse. I wonder why it's names 'sex pistol'? cos the name seems to like something with police & yakuza story and this manga totally didnt relate to the name. But then it's something that you must read!

i don't have any bad comment, just the opposite, this manga is amazing. one of a kind. the story is fresh, weird if i were to say, but full of fantasies and exciting. this manga is exotic in a sense that, well, just read it and you will see what i am trying to say here~

This one is a little different in plot than the usual yaoi. The animal theme isn't new, but the way it was handled is a bit different. There is humor, and the author works out a whole thing about the animal types. It is also a bit silly at times, but it is obviously meant to be. Even the name is silly, but it seems to be quite deliberate. A good read that will amuse you and give you a nice break from a hectic day.

contrary to what the majority is saying, I think the artwork is very fresh and lively. The artists/author knows what she's doing with her lines and her line weight, and she brings her characters to life with them, unlike most yaoi-manga artists who draw stiffly in comparison. However, at first she starts off a bit rocky with her artwork, but as the chapters progress the readers get to see Kotobuki improve more and more, and it's great! it's a fresh and fluid art style and I can never get enough of it
Kotobuki has also executed the manga well story-wise as well. The feelings of the characters are easily understood and the panels flow very easily as well. The stories, although the plot itself is not exactly applicable to real life, are very realistic and down-to-earth, lacking the superficial romance-y feeling that comes along with most amateur yaoi mangas. anyways, love pistols is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Like the other reviewer, I'd given this one a miss coz of the title. I assumed it would be all action + no plot. Then I randomly happened to see something of it on youtube and decided to check it out. SO glad I did. The characters are complex, not one-dimensional. The plots get a little crazy-convoluted sometimes but the basic concept (of shape shifting animals of diff tribes) is a great one, the stories are interesting and there are enough feel good moments to where you don't mind the times it pushes the boundaries of bizarre. All in all, highly recommended.
Luv it!
