Am not sure who put yaoi on this one because this is certainly shounen ai of course with quite the mature content...The story line was quite impressive and the art work is great so this one is a good read.

I think I've read this 3-4 times. I emptied out my bookmarks a few days ago and sadly could not find it. Wracking my head as I tried to remember parts of the plot and thankfully someone remembered it for me and thus I read it a 5th time.

I know this manga isn't perfect, but it really touched me specifically this quotation, "It will be clean if you wash." This feeling does not come with just any manga I read. It was just a simple phrase, but it really got me smiling.

I'm in love with the main character. He seems like the type with a heart of gold who really wants this family to work, and would in turn do anything for them. His step brother is like a broken doll which leads to making poor decisions due to a traumatic childhood. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he hated his father too though it doesn't seem that way.

Although some people might not enjoy the art style, it's my personal favorite. They're really exaggerated to show their parts, like if someone is angry you'll definitely know they're angry.. and when they're smiling, gosh, I swear if anyone smiled like that to me in real life they'd light up the whole room. Like the others said, there's no explicit sex scenes, though I prefer it. And i do believe it was a good way to end, not like certain mangas which leave you hanging unsatisfied.

To ares6: Are you sure you checked genres before reading? It says MATURE and YAOI. If you can't stand stuff like that, DON'T READ IT.

I LOVED this manga. Nice story, not too extreme for yaoi. Perfect for shonen-ai lovers.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Contrary to what ares6 said, the manga isn't horrible at all. I think he worded it poorly too with "that guy slept with his own mom". If he had finished reading the manga, he'd have known that there were circumstances that led to that.

Anyway, on the whole, the artwork's easy on the eyes. There's some mild nudity but, like, zero explicit sex scenes (even if you think differently, at the most, you'd find them tame compared to other yaoi titles).

Anyone who appreciates a story with his/her yaoi should not give this a miss.

Too much drama & anticlimactic ending…

Everything felt a bit forced. The character development also felt superficial. It’s like the author had a good idea but couldn’t decide how to convey it in about 7 chapters, so all in all, it felt slapdash and random. Quite disappointing~

I'm going to agree with Blueseeker on the genre; I hesitate to call anything yaoi when the sex is implied but not shown.

The older brother looks like he was drawn my Modoru Motoni, I swear.

The Shounen S oneshot..... The character is similar enough in looks & family ideals to the series main protagonist that you could mistake it for a chapter where he switches schools & wonder why he has 2 love interests at the same time.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Overall it was a pretty decent read and the art gets better as we go, which is always good. I particularly liked Takeru's character, how despite all the adversity he's still able to pull through with a smile every day. He was sweet and funny most of the time.

Now, one thing that truly bugged me was the planning. The drama and the angst were right in your nose the moment it starts and it just keeps on getting more and more forceful. Some things were a little gratuitous like the deal between Takeru and the PE teacher (you would expect both to be a little smarter than that) and the the thing with Shin trying to screw either one/possibly both felt a little stilted. First he wanted to scare the brother, then he wanted to scare the teacher (because he knew he had the leverage), but in the end he got his point across without any of that. It felt a little silly, in the end.

For me the best part was the two brothers' past. I wished there was more of that and a little less of the teacher, it would have been better.

I love Tohjoh Asami sensei as well as mature, dark, even disturbing stories, but this was just not good.
It's old so the art isn't really good yet, including many awkward and odd looking panels and weird facial expressions.
The storytelling isn't good either; it left me confused a lot, wondering what's going on, and the question 'why?' comes up a lot, because I cannot understand why characters act the way they do at all.
There's no depth, it's rushed, random, all over the place and the characters are very unlikable and shallow.
Certain aspects or themes, such as the kid sleeping with his mother... well that's something that actually happens in the world, there's boys being raped or forced into sex with their own mothers, so it's an interesting topic.
The plot itself isn't bad, it's rather stereotypical, lots of abuse, trauma, step brothers in love and all that... but the execution just didn't do it for me.
Both the art and the storytelling flow and skill gets better in the 2nd volume.

If you are a fan of the mangaka, love manga with a big focus on abuse, and/or don't mind the typical oddness and randomness and quirky story-flow of 80s/90s manga, then go ahead and read it!

If you want a really captivating read, or something where you can feel and suffer with the characters and be all drawn in, or good sex scenes for that matter, then look elsewhere.

Maybe I am just the typical yaoi pervert, but I felt that this story, especially the ending was quite unsatisfying. I've got nothing on the story line or the setting of the story, it was all pretty original and well done, but for some reason the protagonist's blind optimism annoys me, and though they're content by end, I never felt that the brothers' relationship was resolved. Maybe it's all because angst doesn't do well with me. Despite my own enjoyment level, I think for the angst and shounen ai-lover, it's a great read, for the yaoi and comedy lover (and angst allergic) like me, I think it's a story you could do without.
