Slowly won me over and then jumped the shark...

Unfortunately, I have to completely agree with poiso (the reviewer below me).

At first I thought this was going to be a very generic manga: pure-hearted boy and tsundere girl fighting evil. But thanks to this duo, their relationship, the emotions, the great artwork, really great design of monsters/gods and the action, I grew a strong liking to this manga.

...But then at one point, I just felt like they were just procrastinating and procrastinating the ending, adding unecessary elements that felt crowbarred in, unimportant stories - especially about other couples, plot elements I hated, and at one point I even felt like they overused the cute-girl-cries schtick.

Really great first arc, but unfortunately very dissappointing after that, in my opinion.

I took my time pondering if I should read this series or not. Oh boy, I'm glad I did read it through. I don't regret it at all. Even though there's up & down ( well in most other mangas too) but this series is damn solid for me and satisfying. It really bring a whole lot of different emotion in me lol. Anyways, just give it a try and read it. It's either you love it or hate it ! Well for me it's a love & hate relationship haha. Now it's time to look for another series similar as this (I hope).

Eye-candy shounen a seinen fan can enjoy

I'm a seinen guy, with ever less tolerance for normal shounen – the worldview too simple and the behavior too overblown and unrealistic to me – but Kurohime I enjoyed, with some reservations. The author knows how to balance pomp with humor, the story is actually moving somewhere, things happen to characters, which themselves are pretty well fleshed-out, and there is plenty of emotions not limited to the goddam “aren’t we nakama!!!111” thing (it has a romance-driven storyline, for one) – all of which is to say the negative parts aren't as bad as they could be.

Meanwhile, the manga has some huge selling points, and if one - abundance of very attractive female characters (aw, come on) - is easy to come by (tho' not as easy as it may seem), the other's more unusual, being is the mangaka's rampant visual imagination. I'm not a visuals guy, art is secondary to chars and narrative to me, but here, every second page is a threat to savor, offering a slew of images that are nothing if not archetypal – giant gods carrying the Moon, walking mountains, stainless steel dragons, stylizations for Mesopotamian frescoes and more in that vein. Others have noted the story is pretty generic, which is true – still plenty of fights for fights’ sake, shark-jumping and good ol’ formulas, esp. later on – but I’d say much of the effort simply went into the art instead, and most wasn’t wasted. All in all, not cliche-free, but lively, dramatic, dynamic and visually stunning, and so (possibly) worth the attention even if you don’t normally go for this genre. For the shounen world, of course, a gem.

this series has a great blend of action, romance, and comedy. 1st couple arcs were kinda boring. But when the series goes into Zero's Arc, it's awesome. People should really pick up this series especially when u dropped it because it is a great series after a couple volumes.

Most Beautiful Protagonist Ever!

I'll say it again, Kurohime is the the most beautiful protagonist you will find in Manga. That should about sum it up for the artwork.

As for the plot, if you read the first three volumes, your reactions would likely be the same as many others (myself included). You would feel that despite the mesmerizing artwork, the storyline is repetitive and cliche. Again, the artwork is the only motivation to continue reading.

However, if you are patient enough to read through Vol 4 where the story ultimately picks up pace (at a rate of 0-60mph in 5sec), you will find yourself in
the tight grip of a beautiful woman/or man (which ever your prefer). Unfortunately, I am caught in Kurohime's tight grip but I don't want to get out.

pretty bad

The some childish enemies/characters totally ruined it for me .I did like the backstory they gave to korohime it's like a mix of a weak minded Heracles and the tower of Babel.

But after the first ark only that(her story) is redimible, the plot and pacing are terrible. we never get a good enough explanation about anything and the ending was totally rushed.

The other comments sum it up perfect - starts slow, then you really get into it, and then it's so good!! The fights are awesome, the artwork is BREATHTAKING, you know the characters and their personalities, it's unique, it's exciting, and then... and then... it all falls apart. It's hard to pinpoint where, but for me it was the beginning of the second arc. And then it just... man, it fell from the sky, crashed and burned HARD.

I still look at this series with love and respect, but damn. It's disappointing. This could have been one of my all time favorites but it just took a hard left and kept going straight into on-coming traffic. A shame.

I give it a high rating because the artwork is still one of my favorite and this series holds a special place in my heart still. At least the first 7 volumes do...

This manga started out as one of the best things I had ever read. The first ark was amazing and the beginning of the second ark was still great. But then all of a sudden the story just starts to take a dive once they get to time travel. It's almost like someone else entirely wrote it. If I had known the second arc would've ended like that I'd have just stuck with the first arc. I do suggest reading it, but well just don't expect much from the end.

Nice End but Too Many Plotholes

Truthfully, I didn't expect this manga to end this early since I was waiting on some of the plotholes to be filled up and more action for a least a few more volumes. Anyway, this was a great manga overrall as the story and characters was interesting and very refreshing. My compliments to the author doing a great job with this manga.
