You ever read a story...

Have you ever readd a story with the weak peasant and the beautiful princess, and the peasant becomes strong and he swears in all the a is good and pure he will protect. Well this ain't that story, it does a whole lot better. We don't get a virtuous person, or even a perverted one who deep down is fueled by kindness at his core, we get Issei, eros incarnate, sure he is nice but deep down he is eros, While yes the character has been done and the harem being oh so obvious, at least there is a cosmic reason behind his harem, Dragons = harem.
Though Eros may drive the protagonist the story is well done, and the setting is vast, the supporting characters eventually take a life of their own, and not just as hood ornaments on a harem.

HSDxD Oppais everwhere!

High School DxD is a novel that regardless of complexity or appeal is a well thought novel. The novel is mostly marketed toward guys but occasionally you'll get the BL moment or two. Regardless of how you compare the novel the author put a lot of work in developing the characters. The word oppai is word of day any day in high school DxD. Of if you don't like boobs don't read this novel.

The short? Bring in a main character with the power to strip any girl naked or read a female's inner breast's thoughts and you have our main character. Lust is what gives him power to the point in which he started to make his partner cry. Bring in biblical references, hindu gods, greek myths, chinese myths, dragons and any other mythical beings and you'll have the powerhouses in the story. You'll meet a crimson beauty who turns out to be out protagonist's #1. A japanese beauty who wouldn't mind being his #3 in the beginning and a nun who recently became a devil. A loli who is actually a cat-girl and his arch-nemesis a pretty who he hates because of his good looks. Its a story of a typical high schooler who has too much lust. A story that could of flopped, but didn't. A story that seems like it would cross the border between ecchi and hentai, but never reaches that point. A story of love, action, death, breasts, dragons, beautiful women, and more breasts. And the best part? The author guaranteed a good ending for all the girls (Despite trolling his readers time and time again... mil-tan..).

@Yama San i can't believe you even said that. The translation is quite bad? The whole project was started from one person who devoted their spare time to translating the novel. If its so bad you should probably stop reading it. If you want something eloquent read plato. People translate for free during their spare time and this is on baka-tsuki unless you've done something for this community i wouldn't be criticizing others.

I like it but one thing bothers me...

I love the story and all the characters but, the one thing that bothers me is that the main character somehow always finds a way to save the day with... breasts... I think it's a lazy way for the author to be using this to solve everything... It was funny and cool the first few times but it is dying out. But in all I love the novel! Some parts were so good I cried (If you have a heart you would of cried too lol, but whoever cried would know what part i'm talking about). The comedy is actually funny(maybe i'm too easy to be pleased). I really recommend that people should give this novel a try, I love it, except for the one thing mentioned before.

Plot Analysis
The novel focus on the storyline based on devil/angels and much more as the story goes. Each volume just bring you more into the world of the novel and let u attracted to it. The story goes with first person view of the world.
Character Development
There is much developing in the main character as well as the character revolves in the story. (Unlike some of the novel/manga story plot only the main char grown significantly.)
The main character worth is proven at the beginning and this keep the story goes on.
Personal comments
The content can keep the reader entertained for hours as it allow the reader to relax and have a great laughter time. Interesting facts and twist in the plot never let me as the reader down. It goes beyond your expectation as from the result. The main character is true to himself and never tends to hide any motive he got.

I do not remember the last time i enjoyed reading a novel so much. Isse its my fkng hero, but he just need a little courage regarding his intentions on making his harem and he is extremely dense but he rulz... while reading some situations i found my self smiling and laughting without realising.

For those who enjoy ecchi moments, comedy and romance this reading will be extremely pleasing to you.

My Favorite Light Novel

Issei is probably the best harem protagonist out there. The series does a fantastic job with the characters, especially male side characters who are typically neglected in harem series. The girls are all great. The setting is very well done.

Good points:
1. Heroines, ecchi moments and art.
2. Funny pervert moments I laughed my ass off.
Bad points:
1. Fights are poorly done.
2. Somehow all bad guys are omniscient and know every little thing that happens on protagonists' side. Either it's some plot point or it's very VERY lame.
3. Somehow there are ALWAYS traitors on good guys' side that defect for really lame reasons.
4. Bad guys are portrayed as batshit insane idiots. That's pretty average for shounen and no creativity.

Conclusion: Ecchi good, story lame.
Personal rating may change as story goes, it reflects my personal enjoyment and frustration.

Can I remove "mature" genre? Because this novel really isn't mature in any way described in Genre page. It's for teen and pre-teen ages. You can't seriously call Power Rangers mature can you?

This started good for me.This author inserts breasts into every fight. At first it was funny, but
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
chichigami,breast laser
are you kidding me, that just makes the story dumb.I had to quit reading when author
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
brought that father-daughter sm crap.

The author should have ended this series at 12 volumes or something.

dxd hero is nice

Started off strong, same can't be said for the later volumes

High School DxD always had a strong start from the world-building to its quirky characters. It's an expansive world that has a lot of oppais.

The problem comes with the later volumes, I'll say it starts to fall off at around volume 9, the writing gets a bit sloppy and the surroundings aren't as descriptive, I was less immersed in the world and overall didn't enjoy it as much as previous volumes.

The worst has yet to come though, as it fails to deliver though, as at least that arc "The Heroic Oppai Dragon" is still readable, starting from "The Legend of Oppai Dragon and his Lively Companions" is the downfall of DxD for me, it was repetitive and started to get boring.

I am still reading it currently, so maybe it will get better, but for now, it's a mediocre arc with poor writing.
The fourth season of the anime adaptation made the arc adapted way more enjoyable.

Author gone mad?

This Light Novel needs to be seperated in Volume 1-12 and 13+.
The First part followed always the same structure: Easygoing interactions (10%), fixing a problem of a comrade(40%), dealing with the Main issue of the Volume (40%), Easygoing interaction to reflect the outcome of what happened (10%). The formular worked. Weakness in the first part was mainly the Ship of the Author which was continuesly rubbed into the face of the Reader and that the social interactions became very repeative and a few other bad writing issues. It was able to make up for this weakness by introducing us into a very interesting world.

With Volume 13 and after it changed though. The Author couldn't handle the numerous characters anymore so he only focused on the same 4 characters for the easygoing part (which became smaller), disregarding everyone else, even the main heroine. He mixed the 1 Character with issues and the Main issue of a volume into one major part, which reduced the the diversification, and most importantly the reflection part was altered into a forshading part for the next Volume. Why is it the most important change? Because we do not receive feedback from the interesting world or the characters. It stales the development and makes the world lifeless which was previously so colourful.
The Author did not stop going into the wrong direction
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
With the latest events he basically destroyed the interesting world as most of the Characters which represented it got sealed, the rating game was destroyed, and the social life has been on hold for several Volumes. (besides his own ship of course)

With every positive point gone from the first half (Volume 1-12) which got one into this series, there really is no reason to continue reading from Volume13+.

First half gets a 8/10 because I enjoyed the setting of the world, rating games, the ridiculous humore and the interactions that I could live with the bad writing in it.
Second half gets a 4/10. Writing was slightly improved but all the good points of first half are gone.
