Of all the psychological manga I have ever read, this by far is the best. For such a short story, Boys next door completely presented two very interesting characters and had a very interesting plot. I tend to stay away from tragedies, but I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a short, great story with unconventional conflicts and characters.

I loved this manga. It took me a year to finally get it. But it was worth it. It made cry like no other did (well for a long time). Tragedy...but so romantic and beautiful. Kaori sama out did herself with this one. It was beautiful and so tragic all in once.

A must read for sure.

This is one of the best mangas I have ever read, it is very short, and moves quite quickly, but it all seem right.
I read this about 4 years ago and I still think about it all the time.
The artwork, characters, and storyline are all wonderfully laid out. I really can't think of anything negative to say.
A real masterpiece.
(Quick note: I only read Boys Next Door, I haven't had a chance to read the other stories that were included with this manga)

Loved it! It was definatly tragic in general, but the ending felt so complete. Normally in tragic mangas or animes, mostly, its either one them wich dies, and thats really sad, knowing that the other lover is left all alone. But this felt really complete and the way the ending was structured was really touching and sweet. *this is for the 1st manga 'boys next door', I thought the 2nd one was kinda sad...but dat was really nice to

All in all.. it was an awsome manga!

Quite amazing -- yaoi or not. Made me drop a few tears too. It's so very sweet! Don't bother reading the reviews and go ahead and read it. I doubt you'll regret it.

I generally avoid reading Yaoi/Shonen-ai based mangas..but BOYS NEXT DOOR is Exceptional.

The Story is an absolute tear-jerker. I could even imagined a movie can be made from this beautiful oneshot manga..that's what we all expect coming from Kaori Yuki!

I haven't check out the DEVIL INSIDE and When a Heart beats though.

I can see why some people would like/love this manga, as it is indeed very heart-wrenching, but this type of story - a tragedy - is something that I don't like.

I have been a hardcore yaoi fan for a while (ehehehe...) and I had read some of Godchild by Yuki Kaori. But I had no idea that she was hiding this beautiful little gem. I really loved the emotion that was put into this manga.
I feel that the character of Lawrence was just a tiny underdeveloped. But other than that, it was pure love.
(I'm in bliss. I just finished it.)

this was extremely sad, and was one of the first BL mangas i've ever read. it made me cry every time i read it, and brought me into the world of BL.
Yuki Kaori has a way of showing great emotion and character development in a simple oneshot that i've never seen any other artist do, and it was really moving and sad.
One of my most favourite mangas of all time.
