Amazing

This is one of the best slice of life manga I have ever read and and I am not exaggerating. The characters are really great in terms of likability and being realistic. They are not like other characters from other cliche manga whom makes stupid unlogical decisions and becomes superficial to the readers. The characters especially the main two, koharu and masamune have a great relationship together and through that relationship and interaction combined with a common strong bond with their past loved one (ie mom and lover) we get this amazing character development that makes the readers get on an emotional roller coaster that does not stop till the very end. There is no plot in this but there does not have a need for one as the entire story is about the process of growing up and moving forward and the author does a great job doing it.
One thing I do dislike is the fact that everyone is like an angel, there's no unlikable character in here; Sahara mizu doesn't make a single character awful and I feel kinda sad that all the characters are one sided towards in terms of personality. Another thing I do not like is how adult koharu is, and I meant that by how her mind is not that of a kid but like some 20 year old... She doesn't feel like a kid to me... Well anyways, don't be discourage by these shortcomings and actually read this amazing masterpiece since it is probably one of the most emotional work I have ever read in a long time and you will defientley learn a lot from it in terms of personal philosophy and life!

My Girl is the epitome of a great slice-of-life manga. Koharu & Masamune are immensely loveable and it's heartwarming to see them in their daily interactions. Their worries are relatable and I found myself able to connect to them quite easily. The supporting characters are just as well-developed, their personalities and quirks well fleshed out.

Sahara Mizu is really, a genius. Her emotive style is a perfect fit for the mood of the series. Her attention to detail, and her fluid storytelling--she's one of my favourite mangakas and this is one of her best works.

this series has all flavors of bittersweet in it through the tragic beginnings all the way through the hopeful and sweet ending. the last chapter was one of my favorite chapters. masamune's parents were always interesting to me, so it was a perfect ending for his life to be seen through his aging parents' eyes. this series has made me cry, laugh and smile most of all, all in its own quiet and simple presentation. good medicine story to read to bring a simple smile to one's face. beautiful artwork, as always.

maybe shuu and koharu will end up like the protagonists in the 3rd story in Nanairo Sekai ;D~

I'm somewhat of a fan of family dramas like this so It wouldn't be weird if I love this manga smile
The story is quite refreshing even though this sort of settings are quite often used by lots of mangakas (Just like with Otaku no Musume-san before) but still, the way they face the reality is become one of the strong point of this series. I would give this series a 10 but the lack of girl-to-girl interactions (there are one or two but I think its not enough) hindered me to do that.

Overally, I think this manga is a good one. Just try read the first 3 chapters and you won't regret it wink

Oh my gosh this manga has made me tear up so many times. Koharu is just a gem and I love Masamune. This story is so cute, but it's so sad. One of the few times I really enjoy reading about children.

I loved this manga - great art and story, lots of genuine emotion and realistic story/settings. Wish it could have gone another two volumes to watch the dynamics change in the scenarios of finally getting over Koharu's mother, with Masamune dating and trying to bring in a new gal who is to fill the roles of both wife and mom. Oh well! I recommend it to anybody who likes a refreshing and genuine story with realistic, endearing characters.

this is a very decent manga, the drawing varies alot for some of the characters and the author apologises for that but the overall plot and storyline is very moving, be prepared to get very teary eyed since it pulls at the heart strings.

It really is that good... I usually don't read anything over two volumes long, but I just read the entire 4 which are out in one go, then I came here and saw there were only 5 volumes and I was like "Whyyyyyy?! D:" It really is that good. It is sad, but it is also very sweet and heartwarming, not heavy at all. It made me cry, but it didn't make me feel bad. Anyhow, I'm not really making any sense, so just read it :')

if you don't like feeling sad when reading a manga this one's not for you. it's one of the only mangas that have actually gotten me to become teary-eyed. while there are plenty of sad things in this manga, that doesn't necessarily mean as a whole it is depressing. there is just enough warmth to keep you wanting to read more

Really this is one of those great series where i'm so thankful someone is taking the time to translate it for us. The relationship between father and son is so endearing, that my heart melted many times over different scenes.

I recently found J-drama as well, and i'm glad they followed the manga's plot but expanded and added a few things and characters. It was pretty good, although the acting was only ok.
