Fastballs'R'Us

Nothing's like a fastball... unless it's another fastball.
And if a fastball doesn't work... throw another fastball.

Now that's how you play mind games. Pretty soon all the other kids are gonna be on edge wondering why the **** he never threw a curve.

Doesn't make much sense though, since vol 3 through vol 32 is missing.

I really wish it was fully translated, it soo fucking good, there are some moments that i honestly hate, but honestly its reaply good. And i dont even watch baseball or any sports for that matter. Despite that though, this manga is still extremely enjoyable

Chapter 22 made me mad because of the way this all went down, like mother fucker, you should have done what people said you needed to do, and since you did not listen u are suffering the consequences

Chapter 45 wtf

Drama That Makes No Sense + Sports Manga
by kurotaito
December 31st, 2020, 1:19am
Rating: 7.0  / 10.0
This checks off all the boxes to make an average sports manga: characters gain new skills, friends become rivals, rivals become friends, small love subplot between leads. Sadly, you need more than this to become a great or even above-average sports manga.

The author attempts to be better than his peers by having an emotional look into the lead character's family dynamic. The author does such a poor job at this, that he shouldn't have done it at all.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Momoko has been proposed to at least twice by characters who barely talked to her before the proposal!!

Another downside, is that the adults are willing to let children literally damage themselves beyond repair for a child sports event. It is one thing for a player to make a decision on the field, that their pain or fatigue isn't as big as they think. (All players have done this at one time or another.) However, it is bad coaching and parenting to knowingly allow someone to play anyway.

Also, fastballs can't fix everything.

it really got me interested seeing the latest release have reached around volume 47..and reading the great comments about it, i was prepared for a long interesting read..

but guess what? after volume 2 it skipped to volume 33? what was that all about? do i have to watch the anime to be able to fill-up the Major gap?

well i 've read a few chapters and it seems quite promising, i guess it wouldn't reach volume 66 for nothing..

Good sports manga
by Lupin
October 7th, 2006, 12:01pm
Rating: 9.0  / 10.0
This manga is very good, except for the first issues based on the childhood of Goro, but at middle school and high school period, this is just becoming too good.
Story line is good, you have all basic elements like a sad past, a strong spirited hero, some rivals appearing on the way, real challenges. You don't need to like baseball to really enjoy this manga. So I give a 9/10 rating based on the v25 to 58.

If you like this one, try H2 from mitsuru Adachi, another great baseball story, with a little more romance and comedy

Well the anime is so far great, and it's a shame that the manga translations aren't even further. At the rate it's going the animation is going to get much further then the manga translations. Still one of the best sports animes / mangas out theire, Goro has to be one of the most imba protaganists I ever saw. Tho they should nerf his injuries.

Read it, read it not?

From the look of it, this manga must be continuously progressive so I wonder if I should read it while leaving such a big gap between volume 2 and 33? If it is very good, that is even more the reason not to.

This anime got me into baseball though i do think your right it starts off when hes a kid and thats good and all, great for a back story and explaining who he is and how he got there but its not something that will hook you right away, i started with the anime with season 2, then i went back and watched season 1 when he was a kid. The manga at least the fansub just isnt far enough into it to truly grab peoples eye. But its great none the less
