Very retro feel. Very political.

Reminded me of the 1960s, Sartre and Goddard, back in the days when artists were Marxists and they did not feel the need to make their audience "feel good" about what is basically a very messed up world. A little bit more humor would have helped the dialectic go down easier.

Great manga

This manga was awesome. One of the best existentialist pieces that I've ever read. I understand that a lot of people would be turned off by the graphic sex and violence, but this manga dealt with a lot of deeper themes, like the kind that you would find in Dostoevsky's novels. In fact, this manga reminded me a lot of Crime and Punishment and Notes from the Underground. Kano, the antihero, was quite an interesting character. I would recommend it for an older audience.

Typical Ending But...

It is a good read. The main character gets himself out of the situation where it seems like the end for him and escapes. Later his injuries are healed but as I read, more holes are filled in while creating a bigger hole, his past and this camouflage technique. It satisfied my mind as I'm reading the chapters but sometimes the scenes jump quickly leaving no conclusion or rest to my thoughts until much later, where everything comes to a whole but may be questionable between readers.

One of the best

I really feel that this manga is one of the best reads that i have ever come across, pure sienen for adults. Jiro did a excellent portrayal of what the dregs of human society can be like with pure insanity taking place within different characters especially the main character himself. The art is great, really fits the manga very well and the ending will catch you off guard.

I can see why people have problems with this manga, Jiro never pulls any punches when it comes to his work but that what makes him one of the best. But in any case i guess only real sienen lovers would see that.

Translation needed

I hope someone picks this up and translates last two chapters.

It's shame this great series is left uncompleted for english readers.

I found in Freesia deep insight into malfunctions of human psyche and how people are struggling to fit the society, despite their mental condition. Jiro portrayed schizophrenic mind perfectly.

If your a shoujo or shounen tard then stay away, this is for a mature seinen loving audience only. This is one of the greatest manga ever created, your never quite sure what's real and what isn't, your constantly doubting everyone's sanity. The art's drop dead gorgeous and the writing is top notch.

It's boring. This manga is like this :" You take a bucket of clay. Throw it on the floor. Scrub it of and pummel the mass with fists. Finally, put in the chimney hoping it will adjust itself into a statue." Yep, excitting, but its nonsence. It doesn't work that way, and I doubt it ever will.
Do yourself a favor, read some shoujo or smthn. Atleast it wouln't ruin your good mood.

I have to say, I find every single character in Freesia ugly and morally repellant. In this manga, any tiny scraps of humanity, kindness, or decency left in the world are always overwhelmed and destroyed. Reading it leaves me feeling a bit queasy sometimes, but I can't argue that it's not gripping.

jiro is awesome.
all his works are different, thought provoking, cutting edge manga.
slightly disturbing, but really good. his artwork has been described by some as "crude" but i find it very detailed, just not as clean as some other mangaka..
this is his only real proper series though, and its a big shame its uncomplete (scanlation wise) as i could probably give this a 10 if i knew how it ends........
