Description
Back in the day, that place was a house filled with magic - a place where you ended up smiling even if you were crying. Surely, an invisible wizard must have lived there. Or so I thought.

What's a young child to do when her mother leaves her father for another man? Or when her father remarries a woman who brings along a child from a previous marriage? Or when her childhood neighbor friend invites her to live with him? [Mixini Studios]

I really love this manga, first I was little skeptical but soon after few pages I just couldn't stop reading it! I think the characters are well developed and the relationships work really well. The main couple was pretty unexpected for me (I mean while I read the first chapters I assumed that the younger brother would be the interest) but soon it really started working. I hope this one continues long!

I like this kind of shojo manga, it's so lovely. Well, I like most of Taamo's works, but Taiyou no ie is the best for me. Simple, but that simply touch my heart. I got my cheeks red, pain in heart, smile, teary, and scream *in my heart* when i read this series up to now. I love how Taamo made reader's emotion up and down.

Hey, I've read tons of shoujo and a lot of them with storylines like "a young girl moves in with her teacher" blah blah. They are always AWFUL. So I went into reading this only for the adorable art, not expecting a lot from it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I've read works by TAAMO before and I like some, don't like some, so it's not like he's my favorite. BUT this one? One of his better works. I really like the main character and the guy Hiro. They have so many cute, funny moments, as well as bittersweet and tender ones because of the background story on the girl's family. It's a great slice-of-life manga mixed in with romance, but not sickeningly too much of it. I think the pacing's good too. Not so fast it's stupidly unrealistic, but I wouldn't call it boringly slow either. It's just right.

Classic. A well thought-out story.

I think this was the very first manga I ever read, so I might be just a bit biased. I've read lots more romance manga since then and have probably seen all the cliches by now - but I'm writing this from my memory of my first read. From this, I learned what it felt like to have your heart squeeze a little when a character blushed or kissed or had a cute moment. I felt for the MC as she held onto her at first unrequited love for her older childhood friend who only saw her as a little sister. I also just really enjoyed the sort of nostalgic sweetness for the day-to-day life living together and the dynamic the MC and ML had.

While there were definitely cliches like festivals and such, I think for the most part this was a very well-developed story in terms of pacing and the development of the characters' feelings, in relation to the well-thought-out backstory of their lives together that grounds the story with a more realistic touch. It might be a classic shoujo, but it didn't feel like the cut-and-paste mass-produced shoujo that's been repeated a million times. I think this was a very well-thought story which really captures the feelings of romance of youth and their everyday life.

I could not put this one down. I started it and didn't want to put it down, but sleep called.. haha.

Storyline
The story between Hiro and Mao was a little irritating but at the same time understandable.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I mean think about it. You have a 24 year old working man and a 17 year old high school student who've been friends since childhood. Of course their relationship is gonna be a little awkward. Plus it takes the whole manga for them to get together and it leaves you hanging in the end. What the hell is up with that???

It deals with family, friends, school, work, and love all at the same time. What person at what point in their life didn't have to deal with at least three of these things at the same time? I think the reason I found this manga enjoyable was because I could relate to Mao. Also the supporting characters weren't left out of the manga. They actually played a huge role in the development of the main characters which is a huge plus in my book.

Artwork
The artwork was decent. Though there were some areas where it was like... "WTHconfused" when it came to their mouths. The eyes seriously needed some work too.
Score6

Plot
I guess if someone's never experienced the feeling of true loneliness, they probably wouldn't quite understand where the main characters are coming from. It'd be the same if you've confessed and been rejected. You'd know how the support characters felt. The plot is all on how a person takes it. Personally I put myself in Mao's shoe's because she reminds me of myself, only I was worse off at her age. If you take out the little clips of shorts that are inserted you wouldn't really understand much of the story on some parts of it. However!! (Yes there's a but.) You can still follow the story and see how their relationship develops over the course of their interactions while together.

I do not understand the characters at all. -_-"
Personally, I think everyone's making their simple lives really complicated.

Mao's dad, if you do not know how to love Mao at least don't act like you hate her. God.
Hiro, Daiki, Mao - What is this amazing self control? Three of them living in the same roof and nothing major has happened yet. But yea, I can totally understand why they need to keep their feelings to themselves a whilel longer but sometimes it just feels like it's taking too long. Hahaha.
Hina. WTF I CAN'T EVEN.
Sugimoto. Stop dumping your problems to Daiki. And if you can't hold your liquor then don't drink, woman.

BUT it's a good read ( I do not even understand why. Maybe it's the art (I like it) or maybe I have a weakness for Hiro *smirk* *smirk*)

Turning out to be a favorite

I cried while reading the very first chapter. I cried while reading the second chapter. I even cried during several other chapters. The parents in this story make me angry (except the Nakamura's) Mao's dad is a complete asshole and it seems like he really doesn't care about his daughter. I wanted to kill him everytime I saw him. Edit: Seems like he too has so emotional problems. I can kind of understand him, but he still really pisses me off. I wanna scream "JUST TELL HER HOW YOU FEEL, Dumbass!" Urgggh! I really understand Mao. She was pretty much abandoned by her parents (that is called neglect and is abuse) because mine did something similar. She must be so lonely.

I really love Hiro. His expressions are great and he's a gentle male lead. He's nice and sweet and very good to Mao. Its funny how he reads her story lol.
Mao is a very stong heroine. and I feel so bad for her. Though I'm happy, it seems like her love isn't so unrequited.Heeeheee. I cant wait to read more.
