Definitely one of the best shoujo manga!

I was just randomly picking a manga to read, then I realized that this is one of the best one ever. It's a manga that encourage people to never give up, no matter what obstacles they're facing in their life. I love all the characters, Keito, Kouichi, Momiji, Rei... they are truly sweet despite coming from different backgrounds. I love the emotions built, although it's rather slow-paced, but it's gradually moving steadily. Best of all, I love the ending, it's so perfect I can't think of a better one. Oh, and if you care for artwork, this manga's artwork is also a 10/10 smile

Peter Pan Syndrome

The entire manga glorifies it. The characters never grow up and act like children throughout. Nobody lives a realistic life and they magically get everything they ever wanted (using the power of the deus ex machina known as tech company money). Even after leaving school they all become intimately connected to the school and have occupations related to it.

It's basically the same as when you have a 20 volume long shoujo manga and the last 5 volumes are about the characters deciding their future careers, which inevitably, the heroine will end up as a teacher. Now imagine that x4.

Like if you got free college tuition + room and board and you decide to stay a grad student for the rest of your life. That's what this manga is about.

Began promising, but ended being rushed..

Cat Street started out really good. The story appealed to me a lot, since I really related to Keito and her friends, feeling like "stray cats". I liked the idea of a free school, and the characters were unique and realistic.

Unfortunately, somewhere around chapter 15, when Keito starts dating

Rei
, is where is started going downhill.. The pacing suddenly becomes REALLY fast. The plotlines and romance are extremely rushed, and the mangaka even throws in time skips all within like 15 chapters. Its like the mangaka suddenly found out that she had to condense her story into 35 chapters when really, it could have been at least 50 chapters.

The rushing of the plot/romance, along with the abrupt change of pacing weakened the overall quality and strength of the manga.. In fact, it even hindered the character development that started so strong in the beginning. I like Kouichi, but I think that he was the most underdeveloped out of the four main characters. This was a real let down, because I really liked him

Also, the plot lines started to get unrealistic and far stretched, venturing into the cliche shoujo zone. The whole thing with Natsumi was totally unnecessary, stupid and unrealistic. I'd have preferred the author spend those chapters developing Keito and Koiuchi's relationship or developing Koichi's character more. Its really too bad, because I liked Cat Street a lot. However, before chapter 15ish~, I give it a 9/10.

Inspirational and touching

The manga was amazing (though the art not so much) in the way it inspired. How everyone started aiming for their dreams in the end, and got what they desired.

The main problems were the timeskips, though. The timing kept skipping from a few weeks to years in a matter of a chapter (or under). It's extremely confusing-I don't even know how old Keiko is, seriously. Some characters weren't given enough screen time, especially when it was nearing the end-Momiji, for example.

But this was a really sweet manga in the end. I enjoyed reading it.

Ah, I'm so happy that I got to read this manga. Finally a shojo which couple you ddon't expect. And the heroine gets to have set backs in love instead of straight getting to be with her boyfriend. Refreshing! I liked the idea of the story and the characters are all lovable. I think there wasn't any annoying extra, I just loved the manga! 10/10 for me.

Unexpected...

Despite what a lot of reviews say, I didn't find the protagonist's 'self-discovery' really emotional or striking. In fact, I thought the whole story would have a little more content. The 'shoujo' portion of the story really debased the plot and and the whole experience.

Though the plot itself was predictable, and it was satisfying on my part. But the romance was fast and lacked development. Suddenly she fell in love. Suddenly a guy fell in love with her. Unbelievably 'shoujo' for what started off pretty well.

Overall mediocre. It wasn't a pain to read but...just, just mediocre.

Started out strong, but...

...got bogged down by the typical conventional shoujo cliches halfway through.

You can say the first half was good, but frankly, should've ended halfway. Seeing Keito progress and overcome her "trauma" bit by bit, discovering her voice and confidence back, and finally deciding her place in life was the only highlight of this manga.

Then the love crap happens. Overbearing and unnecessary cliches were thrown left and right, almost like an excuse just to crank out more chapters. "Misunderstandings" between the main love interests, other filler characters there to hamper the progress between the two, more crying, more tears, flowery speeches... you get the idea. Basically the second half becomes a dramatic soap opera. And as if the author hadn't already kicked the readers down enough with this crap, the last few chapters are dedicated to an angry "misunderstood" girl harassing the main girl. Really, I had to struggle past volume 5 and force myself to finish this, having once dropped it before for these very reasons I mentioned.

Maybe it's just because I have an extremely low tolerance for shoujo cliches, which ruined this whole manga for me, but I would not recommend this unless you've got nothing else to read. Or if you're not like me and have a high tolerance for these things, then by all means go for it.

At first I was really skeptical to read this manga. But I have a thing about "not judging a book by its cover", so I gave it a try. embarrassed After reading a few chapters I fell in love with it. Now, it's one of my favorites! smile It's a very interesting story. So, for those of you lost souls out there you should try reading this. Cat Street the book version of El Liston. wink

When I first started reading this manga, I must admit I did get somewhat bored. However, as the manga progressed, I realized it was actually pretty good. The way that the author paired Kouichi and Keito together worked really well. Even though they were so different, they somehow worked perfectly with one another. There was just something very simple, and kind of sweet about this manga. I wouldn't read it again, but for a one time read it was actually pretty good.

I put this series off for about 2 years since I thought it was going to be a very moody/depressed-ish kind of manga. But it surprised me when I finally decided to start reading. It's not really hard to get into. And I was quite surprised by how good the pace of the story was. The characters were well planned out. I loved the main character's growth and how the author expressed the importance of true friends.

Kouichi and Keito:

So before reading Cat Street, i spoiled myself reading the spoilers on here. So I knew that they were going to end up with each other. When Kouichi's character was introduced, my reaction was "How is such a boring guy going to end up with the main character?" and "How is the author going to make the relationship interesting" mwuahahha. In the end however, it turned out pretty good.

The art was not that great, but clean and very nice after taking a little time to get used to.
