One of the best yaois there is. Really like the development of the characters, specially Souichi (aka.
Sempai). Perfect combination of the comedy with the drama, and if you really get into it, you will cry.You can either love it, or have it.

A lot of the extras that are included in the actual published volume and the last chapter of volume 8 hasn't been scanlated yet so I don't get why people said it is. This pisses me off. I hate it when people think once the main arc has been translated, the series is considered as done. It is not. Just leave the status as incomplete, whoever is interested can pick up where it is left off.
The scanlation status refers to the actual published official book/volume, not just the story.

You must. Love it, that is.
It has many high points, and only a few lows.
For those who point out the first time was rape--it's a yaoi, meaning men with physical needs. After years and years of being in an unrequited love situation and being presented with something like that, where really he couldn't just leave him, the fact that he couldn't resist was inevitable.
How this manga differs from other yaois is that they don't fall in love and admit it passionately during sex, or after. Sex doesn't equal love, but it can start it! Aside from that, the balance between serious and humorous events plays well with the characters and their awkward relationship, so much so I wonder how it will last when Souichi realizes what he feels.
This manga is a must read and I fell in love with it at first volume. Ongoing, with slow translation scans released and even slower volume prints (whose manga translators pale in comparison to the internet scan's translators), I'm still coming back to it and re-reading it.
I also love how the style is so different and lovely then the prequel series "Challengers". I love the style they now use.

Yes, the rape part wasn't a good part of the story, but it really characterizes Morinaga. He tries to explain to Sensei why he did it but it just backfires. He still has a sense of responsibility and regret so he withdraws from the school.
Anyway, after the first time, if Sensei really didnt want to have sex with Morinaga he could have used force.
Then the seriousness kind of stops and the story becomes more humorous.
This is a smut manga with an added storyline so don't expect too much, but it was entertaining to me. I like it and the art was very nice.

i remember reading this manga YEARS ago. i found it by a stamp on deviantart. i dont remember how long ago it was but it was before high school and the other yaoi manga ive read then was like... junjou romantika. cringey-yes.
i liked it then and it only had a few volumes out (i think i was up to volume 4). Now? im rereading the whole thing to honor my 12 year old self and oh my god i didnt realize how much noncon there is in here and how i thought it was normal?? my problem with it is that its not even seen as bad like how killing stalking or any the creepy works of harada show rape-shown as yeah this is messed up but thats what youre here for. no. here it paints the rape as an overflowing of his love he couldnt control anymore. as unrealistic the manga may get romance-wise, it has something that seems all too familiar to real life. the creepy/obsessive/abusive behavior of morinaga acting like he is entitled to souichi for keeping his feelings for him despite being rejected before.

The art is one of my favorites, but I found Tatsumi so incredibly annoying in the beginning due to his unrelenting stubbornness. I'm liking him more since the story started actually progressing (just finished volume 5). I found Morinaga to be very adorable; it's hard to believe his past relationships. I just can't help but like the excited-puppy-types. I just hope the last few volumes have more going for them besides the steamy scenes, otherwise I'll be thoroughly disappointed and feel like I wasted my time with such a slow series.

The development of this manga to me is good and the characters are unique. I love how the stories really connect to reality. All those falling in love and all really make the story more complicated but fun to read. I like how Hinako - sensei let a homophobic one in her game and turned out to be an Uke =D

This series has to be my favorite. It has a story unlike many of the other yaoi out there, and has great character development.
Yes yes yes, we get it. Morinaga raped Souichi, but you have to look at it through his eye's, he's had unrequiented love(and confessed) for over five years, Souichi obviously wanted to ignore it because he did care for Morinaga.
I'm definatly not on his side though! The way Morinaga still didn't mind the fact that he didn't have consectual sex with his bestfriend/love of his life is messed up. Which brings me to the low part's of the story,
It seems no matter what, no matter how much Souichi says "NO" he still ends up having sex with him. And, like others pointed out, he get's offended when Souichi can't trust him. Which I can't even comprehend seeing as Morinaga practically sexed Souichi up in his sleep because he "Didn't lock the door, so he thought that meant an 'OK'". That is the one low point in the story/character development, Morinaga can't seem to bet his mind off sex.
But, I definitely cannot wait for new volumes!

omg!!! i love this manga!
Takanaga-sensei is a genius!! she really makes this tsundere frustrated smut friendship/love relationship work. The characters' relationship develops just the right way- no too unbelievably fast nor too frustrating it slow, especially considering souichi starts as a homo-hater.
So, some people may be put off because their first time ends up being a rape, but get over it! it's not like it's the overly forceful rape or anything- Souichi was in the mood anyway (given it was because of the aphrodisiac, but still).
I think the best part of this is that they were friends to begin with, so them falling for each other (even with the complications of being gay) is something that can be accepted- is something that could actually happen.
Plus, it helps that the art is beautiful! ><
