damn it sucks that this manga ended so early, to me they could have kept it going like for example i thought that the main villain guy
plus the ending was like that i guess cause they axed the series i really hate when they do this expecially to good ones like this im definetly hoping for and anime and a sequel

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Miroku Amagi
and his crew would learn the nova ability too or something to be a threat again or new villans would apear because i really thought this manga had a lot of potential to be in the top next to the big 3 like Fairy tail did but oh well. i just hope that the author gets an anime version of this and/or that there is a sequel to this manga (like The Breaker manga did). so i guess ill look forward to his next work then.Spoiler (mouse over to view)
plus the mithra villan getting her ass handed that quickly made sense since in the future ageha beat Miroku (pretty easily i might add) and Miroku practically beat Mithra while dying from the wound ageha inflicted, so ageha was obviously capable of beating her that fast he was on another level
plus the ending was like that i guess cause they axed the series i really hate when they do this expecially to good ones like this im definetly hoping for and anime and a sequel

I just rant a bit, don't throw your anger on me . I've just started reading Psyren last week, but I like it very much, same as when I first read Bleach. But as the stories go, I found Bleach so boring and dragging and repetitive, while Psyren has definitely become better and better. Characters are cool, art is awesome, fights are great, and no tear, no unexpressed feelings (wtf to do with that in a fighting shonen?). It should be more popular, unfortunately Bleach and Naruto have had a long way ahead with the massive advertisement. And someone said the publisher is gonna end it soon so that the mangaka has to rush the story. What a shame.
And please don't compare Psyren with other shonen, because all shonen nowadays share some common aspects like that. If you want some original ones, read DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho or Ranma 1/2, or quit reading lol

I like the subtle humour Psyren has. To summarize the beginning, it's basically some kind of "survival game" some unknown entity invented. The inhabitants of this "game" don't know who those strangers said entity sends are or where they come from, but they kill them anyway. As my current fav character Oboro is just awesome and, as long as the translator didn't screw that scene up, he seems to harbour some secret. Gets crazy when he is cold... wishes for destruction power and gets "cure" instead... suddenly hugs whoever he likes (also guys)... freak <3
Oh and the art is somewhat similiar to Bleach... probably the mangaka is in some way connected with Bleach's mangaka... kind of like with Naruto and Satan666.

The beginning was fairly simple, in the sense that beat the bad the guys/ monsters get to the exit and rinse and repeat, which will get u hooked. With area we r in now its quite complicated, this is one where u dont skip ahead to c whats going on cause u will b thoroughly confused, but cause it changes it up it keeps u hooked and lookin 4 more. Even with the complication is still an awesome read and i look forward next week 4 a new release.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
The root of all the complication in the manga is the butterfly effect, which is physics theory, the author seems to play a lot into that so we should a lot more effects caused by the past 2 make a huge problem in the future. Its funny in the sense that this whole manga is based on the butterfly effect or what ive come to understand of it (the butterfly effect) its definitely gonna b a bumpy ride from here out, and no i did not get that from star trek movie, i haven't seen it yet so don't think i copied off of there.
ended too quick?

Won't rate for now... Looks to me like its going to be HunterXHunter Greed Island Arc Style... We'll see how well the mangaka can pull it off.
I thought it would be different.

I started reading Psyren with absolutely no idea about what it was. Really, I simply picked it up from the mass of mangas out there. I started reading it and actually enjoyed it a lot! The story was intriguing and amazing, the characters were good too. I expected it would be a different manga, about brains instead of brawls, like Bloody Monday or Liar Game.
But then I reached the point when they started talking about psy, I noticed this was the "monetary power system" of the manga, I understood it was actually simply a shonen manga, like Naruto and Bleach, and I lost the interest (I'm was kind of tired of shonen by the time).
Probably I should start reading it again, this time knowing what to expect, and check if it's good or not. I guess I posted this comment just to warn people not to mistake things like I did. Read it if you like shonen like Naruto or Bleach.

Psyren was certainly a bizarre manga. When I first started, I really loved it. And then everything went downhill. Characters, plot, quality, etc. The last thirty or forty chapters were just bad, especially the last few. It's a real shame, it had a ton of potential in the beginning. Great character, interesting plot. Then a bunch of new characters whose names I could never remember got introduced, and all the good characters got stranded in the future or just stopped appearing (I'm looking at you, headscarf guy!).
All in all, it's a shame about what happened to Psyren. But the author was digging himself into a hole. Still, I was very sad when I learned it was being canceled.

that this was a pretty interesting read, so i started on it, since kinoko nasu is my favorite author.
this is actually a fun story. it's gripping in its own way but the only thing i think, is that ageha's power is kind of cheap. basically the power he got was literally "mass".
and he can do anything and create that "mass" into anything. it's gay. everybody else is limited in some way but his power is pretty close to limitless, only limited by how imaginative he can be.
soon i be he's gonna start using his psy power to like, make full suits of armor or something and become fakking invincible.
either way, it's fun, and the characters aren't bad either. the art style is reminding me of bleach a lot though. like later on, it totally turns into a recognizable bleach style. i don't even know when it happened cause it doesnt look like that in the beginning, but somewhere down the road the author suddenly turned bleach on us.

Probably the best way to describe this series. It's a Shounen battle manga, sure, but one that is believable in it's execution. Rather than fights being won through POWER OF FRIENDSHIP and MY BURNING SOULLLLLL!!!!, the enemies are taken down through strategy. Numbers are always important, and most of the fights are spent analyzing the enemies' powers rather than trying to muscle one's way through.
The way the series is divided into Present and Future is clever, and neither of the two drag on too long. Once a Future arc is about to end, you don't feel like you were cut short or it dragged on for too long and vice-versa. Seeing how actions in the present affected the future, and what has changed in the present since the crew has been dicking around in Psyren.
There is a very strong supporting cast, but the main protagonist (Ageha) isn't so flat he's overshadowed by them either. Also, the series breaks a mold recently set up in Shounen magazines regarding couples. You have instead of will they or won't they love triangle BS an actual official couple has been established since more or less Chapter 2. This was more common in older manga, but went out of fashion for whatever reason. I'm glad that series like Psyren and Bakuman are bringing this back.
