Not an avg shounen

I just finished reading chpt. 40 and I'm really wowed..!. I've never enjoyed a shounen in it's 1st 30-40 chapters ( e.g, bleach, one piece, d.gray man and fairy tail). The art is good for a shounen. The story is really intersting for a shounen with 40 chpts. The pacing is good not too slow nor fast. and most importantly the fights are good unlike your avg shounens!
Bottom line, This shounen is one best shounens the jump puplishes every week. Don't mess it if you're looking for a really good new series.

Elements of Bleach and Gantz (not two of my favorite manga) in this one make for a very generic read that just doesn't stand out in any way so far. Much like his previous series, Mieru Hito, this could very well become another prime example of Shonen Jump mediocrity.

Main problem here is the lack of motive for the actions the WISE take, it just makes no sense. Also, not having feeling doesn't make you a mass murderer. What's the justification for wanting to erase humanity from the face of the earth?? Supremacy is "understandable" but eradication?
In short, the setting is nice as is the initial idea but the mangaka made the chars way too shallow, it's hard to take things seriously like that, making everything lacking in sense and rather forceful. And when they try to make some sense of it towards the end it just seemed to me like a load of bull... so the plot development is also weak.
Other than that is a VERY generic manga with no particularly redeeming points.

I agree with AQVXZ11, this manga reminds me of GANTZ, go to another world , fight with the future creatures ( Gantz : Aliens) , change the future ( Gantz : Save the world ) . The characters are built somewhat like gantz ( I'm telling the truth) except the supernatural ( Gantz : wear special suit =)) ) . Gantz's fans shouldn't read this manga
Beginning was good, but dragged on for too long

First volume was boring as its attempting to introduce suspense. It gets interesting starting around volume 2.
Around volume 8~10, it starts to ramble on and on.
Overall, this would have been a classic time traveling manga had it ended around v10. But more became less and the result was unsatisfactory.

Basically, like Gantz, their ears starts to ring, then they are teleported to another world and when the phone rings, the game starts. after they kill the monsters, they are teleported back. Each trip will earn points. But the rules are loose, and characters have no reason or motivation to fight at all. The games repeat, the story progresses, and the mistery builts up. Who's doing all this, and for what reason?

Time traveling, parallel worlds, psi powers, these are pretty interesting. But when the author starts to introduce multiple personality disorder, aliens hidden inside a comic, that sounded like someone's pulling ideas out from their azz. And where is that cute ghost girl that every pop manga seems to include?
Overall, this would have been a classic time traveling manga had it ended around v10. But more became less and the result was unsatisfactory.

If you are looking for originality and creativity;then this is not for you.
You will find that it is a mixture of Gantz and X-Men.
I am surprised for the fact that people are saying it is a good read.
GENERAL SHOUNEN ->> WEAK-TRAINING->>NEAR DEATH/FRIEND DYING->> POWER UP->> ENEMY FRIGHTENS->>STRONG ENEMY->>TRAINING.
You can enjoy it if you dont mind these facts.

Definitely a shounen manga; a nice read, but nothing great.

Well, I totally disagree that Psyren is a Gantz rip-off. Firstly, Psyren is a typical shounen manga with that typical shounen feel (the use/introduction of the "psyren card" make the manga feel even more "shounen"). Secondly, the arts or characters design (and their proportions/anatomy) overall are closer to manga like Bleach (well, without the swords and ranking of captains etc.) or Code Breaker (read: close, not the same) - while Gantz feels more mature in terms of characters design (anatomy/proportion of the characters besides the sex and gore) and got more psychological elements in the manga. As for the art in Gantz, it's way more detailed that Psyren. Psyren is even less detailed than Bleach; it's more on par with Code Breaker. Storywise, I think it's okay, it's a nice read, but nothing great (at the moment).
Lacks direction

A lot of it feels like like it's made up of temporary ideas that failed to stick and it fails to build a consistent world with a focused story. It starts as a game, then it becomes a story about time-travel, but the implications of time-travel are largely ignored, characters and situations that don't go anywhere appear, plot lines are discarded and then hastily resolved at the end. The main character is practically a blank slate - completely unappealing. It's not that he's unlikeable, it's that his personality is not even there and he doesn't even seem to be relevant to the plot. If he'd have had more presence, perhaps this series would have been more than just a mediocre action manga.
The series was canceled due to lacking popularity and I can sort of understand why that would happen - the pacing of the story was abrupt and the characters don't really make an impression.

Honestly, I found the heroine of this manga unattractive. She's short, unstylish, and uncharming that makes her a snowman not an ice-queen despite the fact that the author gives his best effort to perform her to fit for such a big role. To be specific, simply I do not think it works well in terms of her outlook for what general shounen manga should express. For example, think about her glasses, where the heck on Earth would real male men fall in love with glasses from 2-D Earth? Here, I am talking about majority not minority. And what about that seemingly boring trait of hers which I think is incompetent nowadays against other heroines? I would prefer to see somewhat energetic and fresh personality that gives some relaxation and sensibility of loveliness that grabs the readers' attention while successfully doing her job as a part of the storyline. I wouldn't bother to read straight a whole night with that kind of heroine dancing before my eye on the distinguished setting such as this.

Can anybody stop these damn waned, tattered statements like “I can’t wait to see how you’ll improve” or “I will let you alive for now because you are too weak” or “I am letting you go for the future usage of yours” or “You are not yet to be die here because you are my rival” at the instant when our almighty protagonist is at the pinch?? Should I put this simply? “Oh my god, they are all overused in shounen manga”? Young mangakas these days should at least read some more mangas until they get sick of such statements before they do their job.
