This story made me cry, made me laugh, made me wanna feel part of it. All I can say is that there are no words to describe how much I love this manga and how much I'm going to miss it now I finished it.
Tamura Yumi thank you!

Spoiler (highlight to view)
As the title said, I'm curious am I going to pick this up for my newest manga reading or not? I dare myself, I pick it up. God, man.. can you believed it? The art, I've never seen this kind of art ever! Seriously, all typical shoujo I read have typical art, but no for this manga. It's soo beyond the edge and from the first chapter..it caught my interest <3. I loved the way mangaka make us believed the "child of destiny" is Sarasa's twin brother, Tatara. Then, poof. Tatara's gone, and I couldn't believed it if Tatara's is "Son of destiny" because he way too soft and loveable meanwhile Sarasa more rebellious and adventures.

The plot and storyline keep my heart beat like crazy! Seriously, the Sarasa's team (or.. "Tatara's Team) keep bumping one to another adventure that keep them trap and showing the spirit of "Tatara".

I simply love all the character! Seriously, to the good guy and bad guy. They have something that make us to Hate them or love them. As for "bad + good guy" Asagi, I don't know, should I hate him or like him? This show that, the mangaka knew what she's going to present.

Hey, this manga make me draw tears oke! Seriously! Ageha or "No 31" sacrifice is too much for me to handle. To his past as "No 31" and future as Ageha, I couldn't help it how much he suffered. And, I couldn't help giggle when he found out he in "hell". Haha, seriously, they still can chit chat and jealous of Taro.

Red King aka Shuri relationship with Sarasa is to die for! I love it when he became a "monk" with bald head and together with Sarasa in horrendous slave game, he couldn't help to remark every word Sarasa meant to "Blue King " that also stab his heart.

I'm satisfied enough with the ending even though too many character died for! But, that's what make it more exciting right?

Highly recommended. Don't bother by "dislike" comment. Everyone has their own opinion. For me, it suitable to those who love adventure/action and + romance shoujo element. <3 great!

Artwork DATED, Story SUPERB

It's old, so this style of artwork is to be expected. But the story is so much better than most of the more beautiful, recent work in shoujo. It's like Kanata Kara or Miriam- a good story with art that gets the job done, though I could wish that someone would update portrayals of the more amazing scenes.

It's story like this that makes your world filled with red roses everyday. It's full of plot and smart storyline, and the romance is really, really good. It's much more realistic than most Shoujo mangas. I'm wondering why there are more stupid plotted shoujo mangas than this kind of manga... I'm really sick of quick romance and unrealistic relationship development and this one is a good cure, this stands tall above most shoujo mangas. Love it.

The art is a bit turn-off, but once you get used to it I think it's just okay. Not that bad, at least you understand the character's expression well.

Good enough

I'd say it was good enough, the story caught my attention from the beginning till the end, but the passing was kinda slow (27 volumes, dah). I appreciated the most the character development, the way Shuri and especially Asagi changed was really well made and it shows the author put a lot of thought into it . As for the art, it's not very good at least at the beginning, but it gets better along the way (or maybe I just got used to it).
All in all it's a good read.

GREAT

This manga is definitely in a class of its own. I like going back to it once in a while because the plotwork is very intrincate, the heroine is a complex character who grows and the political intrigue, the complexity of the rest of the cast, and the action are all top notch. It's one of the better historical/sci fi genres out there. I really found myself pulled into the plot and the characters. It's creative and emotionally wrenching at times, although romance does take a backseat. One of the best aspects of the manga is the lush characterization of secondary characters like Asagi. It is not only the main character that grows but the entire cast. It is also full of symbolism, archetypes etc.

That being said, this is for older audiences that don't mind a lack of the tradition lovey dovey type of romance or gradual buildups for relationships. I do feel that although the rest of the manga is excellent, the romantic aspect is a tad unrealistic if you're cynical like me, but the ending is climatic and gives off the tone and atmosphere that it was striving to achieve.

On another note, the artwork is good but not clean cut. I, myself, prefer crisp lines and shapes so the artwork here isn't my ideal cup of tea.

Overall though, this is definitely a series everyone should check out. It has its flaws, as with everything, but in terms of all the mangas I've read, this definitely touches pretty close to perfection.

This is not your typical shoujo!!! ITS MUCH BETTER smile The female characters were not dimwits but was strong enough to think about the betterment of others. YES the romance ending was happy and it even made me want to cry a little. The only problem was that the epilogue was too fast forward and focused on the minor roles instead of tying up the loose ends.

I finally got down to reading Basara after a long time. Although the story starts out a little weak, it does get much better after a while. I loved the cast and how they all evolved. Yes, even Asagi who became a really different man from the snake he used to be. However, the weak point of Basara is the writing style which turns what a potential well-written story into a slightly convoluted mess. Still, it is quite interesting and it deserves at least a 9.

this is definitely one of my favs. there was such a good blend of action, adventure, and romance. Im not usually a shoujo fan, but i have this a 10. Yes, this is a must read. There is a little bit of tragedy (mainly why i wasnt sure if i should read this) but nothing bad enough to make u stop reading or cry.

Must Read!!!
