Even if she likes bands, your friend might not really like mangas about them... but if she does these might work:
Bokura no Ibasho:
This is a story about a j-pop band called WaT. Well, it's about the creation of the band from the point of view of the "T" member (Teppei Koike).
Monster dj - Play Memory For Me
It's not really a band manga, but it's one about a radio DJ.
They are both oneshots, which I think would be better for your friend to read if since she isn't really into manga yet.
Also, I would suggest that you give her other oneshots that are artistically related... like with dance and painting or something that focuses on the image rather than strictly a written story.

[quote=Liria]Well, if you want a boy idol, you could try Tenshi ja nai!! - it's also gender bender, but it's pretty well done.quote]
oh, tenshi ja nai is fantastic, great art and great story.
and looking at what liria said, i think that manga about idols are most likely the kind of thing your boy band loving friend would like. Lots of bishies, fancy clothes, light and fluffy storyline, nothing too angsty.
others they might like:
Ai wo utau yori ore ni oborero! by the same mangaka as kaikan phrase, though the heroine's kind of weak so it doesn't do much for me.
chiro star project if they like tenshi ja nai, then go for this next
hush guy is idol, but takes a break and goes into hiding as a highschool girl, similar to tenshi ja nai as well.
and probably teppen!

Oh, I bet she'd like Die Kusse. It fits all the requirements, and it's quite good.
